I don't think fault is from the power button though, see a laptop technician.

For the used just budget 4-5k plus hinges #3k-4k for both.

Get malwarebytes and scan your laptop thoroughly, your laptop is infected with a virus. Don't waste any time, you don't know how bad the virus could be.

But if you reset it to factory settings you still loose all your files

When you reset it, there are options to choose so you choose to keep your files.

Please I need someone to recommend a good engineer in Ibadan to fix my laptop.
The laptop will on but after shutdown it will take time b4 it powers on again and this time I will have to remove the battery. I have tried some alternatives by changing charger, battery etc yet the problem persists. I took it to an engineer here to fix, he said I will need to change the power switch board but he doesn't have the spare part. I would like to take it to Ibadan myself to fix since its closer to where I am. Laptop is Asus X55A.

I have researched about it and I have drawn two conclusions:

1. One, the inverter in the screen might have shaken or entirely faulty;

2. My battery might need replacement.

So, I would like to know if my drawn conclusions are correct or if there's more to this. Thanks

You said the back light went off, can you see any character displayed on the screen if you point a torch to it?

Yes, it just blinks then goes off, and yes; I can see everything if I use another source of light pointed at the screen. I forgot to mention that.

Fault can be from the screen or motherboard, you just have to take it to a laptop technician for diagnoses.

Check if it goes off at a particular time, let's say every 4 mins or 5mins.

If it powers on, then work for like 3-4mins and then power off at exactly the same time always, then it's probably a corrupt ME region (Intel management engine) it's inside the main bios chip, that's part of it systoms, it needs to be upgraded or just flash a another bios.

I don't know oooo but you can simply go to device settings, uninstall the mouse driver and restart your system, it automatically install it back, then check to see if it will respond. If problem persist, do a window restore or simply reinstall your operating system.
