I experienced similar problem back in those days but I think the problem you are faced with now is the iso. Most of those rip ISO often crashes.
I did not finish the game then because of crash at a particular point in the game not until I came across this cool site where I ed Logan's shadow and dark mirror and I finished the two games.

Most of my iso (ppsspp and dolphin) is now ed from romsmode.com (I strongly recommend).

This is the new version of Gangstar Rio v. 1.2.2b. It is completely offline. Note : the game should be started without network otherwise you may get license verification error.

Mine was ed from this cool site (pdalife.ru, though is a Russian site but you may need chrome to translate to English and then, use ucbrowser to )
