Recently got knocked off in the interview stage of Sterling bank Job, I have attended several interviews too on the Island for months now and now NNPC. What disturbs me is the age factor. I can bet that more than 90% of males who applied for these positions and have been expecting APL have either of two things in mind or comination of both.

1. Help out parents/siblings/relatives
2. Marriage/settling down.

The pressure alone one receive as a male is enough to commit suicide. A male old enough to get married and be fending for himself still staying with his parents without a job... And is now older than the age to apply for GT positions

Exactly. We EH applicants need to get our list out too. As they said that it is a 'continuous process', does it mean that they'll just be sending APL to EH randomly? Are they going to be taking EH as need arises? So many questions on my mind. They need to just release the EH APL.

Nnpc is not the only route to having a successful career..

I was rejected by them in 2011/2012 recruitment..
I thought it's the end of the world.
I was frustrated..
I was dejected.
I was disappointed..

I dusted myself up.
God gifted me with a Federal job after the disappointment..
I got married..
I still went back to school(part time)
Have a M.Sc(Engineering)
Foreign Executive Masters in Project Mgt..
I am presently rounding up my P.hd..

I made myself still eligible to come back 7 years later to apply for supervisory position..

Where there is life..
There is hope..
Never give up on you dreams..

Madame Jane, u r a well known personae on this forum but one still doesn't know what it is u want. Dont take this the wrong way. or better still lemme clarify further.

I think for those writing personal experiences, it 'll also be good if u open/summarize a little background about yourself as an added paragraph...(e.g i reside in lokoja, i have a first class in Yoruba Lang, I have ABC skill and currently preparing for my ICAN)... u never know, some people here may v internal vacancies in their offices in which they can dm you privately or recommend u. others may help repackage ur resume/cover letters, give u pointers in what you doing wrong etc. etc. You have a first class,that's half a door opened.
To add though, in this naija we live in,I 'll advice u learn some skills...their r free courses/classes from Google garage on digital marketing (which is kinda the inthing) and even other academies ... follow reputable people in your field on Twitter(and not just celebrities) and quora..observe them,privately even dm..go for meetups especially if u in Lagos/ Abuja. let social media work for u.

and no, i didn't get APL. I m under the EH category.
I repackaged myself to a role classification as my current field isn't in the needed fields for NNPC, wrote the test, ed and did the interview for experienced Hire for a role I v never done in my life but taking a liking too. I m not sure how it went. Between the interview till now i have studied, read and ed a certification (135k cost) in this field. I will probably be switching to this field by March. This will probably drop me down levels from my current job but if u have a vision u just gotta look forward and never backwards especially for The potential this field has66.The other bright side is if i get APL I will find myself more "experienced" than I initially was during the interview.

I utilized the NnpC experience to give myself a kick up my own ass. Don't view every experience in life as a negative..Always push forward however infinitesimally.

I've had so many disappointments, so many, this one left me devastated, I never thought I could survive it but it seems I'm feeling better now.

I'll be 27 in July, doing my masters after several rejections from abroad scholarships.

After completing my NYSC in 2018, I couldn't even get a teaching job with my first class. This nnpc disappointment is so painful because I thought this was it, I was prepared for every question asked, I wasn't tensed at all, I know I did well but God knows why I was not successful.

I was heartbroken on Friday, but let's not beat up ourselves over this thing.

I think we in the social sciences were not favored in the recruitment at all. Asides engineering and IT candidates, the peeps dat made it were mostly ing or finance related graduates or those that had some sort of experience in that field.

While I believe NNPC as a corporation know what they want as regards manpower, I just think they should have saved us the trouble of thinking there can really be a place for us. And I also think they also favored the somewhat experienced GTs too...

Anyways, no matter what... We move!!!

I'll be turning 27 in few weeks, but someway somehow I still feel I'm about to have my best years yet.

life doesn't turn out the way we expect sometimes. If you don't learn this lesson now, you will learn it later. It doesn't matter whether you got the job or not. I know life could have been better, but it could have also been worse. Be thankful for the breath you have to hustle. I don't know anything about you. But I can tell you one thing; If you have good health, you are good to go. Pray and keep working strategically. Never leave success to chance.

There will be more job openings, even better than NNPC. The good thing is you are still young. A lot of people couldn't even apply for NNPC. If you get a job this year, you can always apply for EH 3 years down the line.
To everyone (gentlemen and ladies) who missed the opportunity to change their situation with the reception of an APL, know that this is not the end of the battle.

Most people are still in denial stage; refusing to believe that the recruitment is over for the GTs. I feel no pity for no one... I moved on since Friday even though it was very very very painful knowing that i wasn't successful, but i knew that hoping for another list will be devastating.

I'm completely relaxed, I've been ruling out any hopes of another list showing up, because if it shows up and i still misses out on it, it would be a double blow to my mental health. I chose to move. You should do the same if you weren't notified on Friday. Let's stay strong. Thanks.

Word! its about time people understand not everyone is in the same level with them. Empathy should be applied in every level of Our thinking as Human beings that's why we have a merciful God who loves us all but to the wicked damnation awaits them. Empathize with the lady doesn't mean you shouldn't empathize with some other guy who did the same. Show some people love please. Just empathize with the young lady that's all she's only sharing what she's ing through in her own level. Please . everyone have their's and how they handle it. she's only Sharing her own pain that's all.
