They contested full time, a very lawless party, Akpabio and Ntu wanted to decieve PDP by claiming they were not contesting and Akpabio inability to resign from the ministerial position nearly gave PDP suprise of the century by hijacking and kidnapping electoral materials in order to rig massively himself and Ntu back to House of Reps but PDP woke up from the shock fast to avoid the coup planned by APC and Akpabio, if not the APC goons in the judiciary would have told Nigerians how Akpabio can contest without resignation.

Akpabio clearly back out of the election to avoid final embarrassment, as a final obong-owo. Even the new born baby knows that akwaibom is PDP and the hate for apc in that state is endless. Akpabio must go and enjoy his ministerial appointment, for the akwaibom north has rejected him because of Apc.
