I saw the tweet, but I didn’t think that it was a big deal at the time. What she actually tweeted was “Keep the damn ball”. However, many Spanish newspapers and websites have different interpretations of what she tweeted and some of them are saying that she was criticising Valverde, while others say that she was criticising the players in the men’s team.

The fact is that she always tweets or posts on Instagram during football and basketball matches and I think that she was just expressing her frustration.

Barça Femení striker's Slavia advice: "keep the bloody ball!"

Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala lent her thoughts to Barça's laboured Champions League draw but swiftly deleted her message.

FC Barcelona Femení striker Asisat Oshoala, the 2015 BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year and scorer of the side’s goal in the 4-1 Champions League final defeat to Lyon last season – the first time a Spanish team had reached the final – was a frustrated spectator as her club’s male counterparts laboured to a 0-0 draw against Slavia Prague on Wednesday.

A member of the Super Falcons 2014, 2016 and 2018 African Women’s Championship, a Golden Ball and Golden Boot winner at the tournament, with an FA Cup, a Chinese Super League and Nigerian Championship among her laurels, Oshoala knows a bit about winning football matches. And her advice to Leo Messi and company against the Czech side was simply: “Keep the bloody ball!”

According to Catalan media Mundo Deportivo, the striker swiftly deleted her tweet in case of a backlash ensued but speaks from a position of authority. Barça Femení have been imperious in the Liga Iberdrola this season, winning seven and drawing one of their eight games with Oshoala scoring seven of the side’s 33 goals, with just three conceded at the other end. Barça are also in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League, while Ernesto Valverde’s side are playing catch-up after the Slavia stalemate.

More than anything it shows her ion and for Barca, if they don't want her again because of her honest and harmless comment be sure that many other top female teams in Europe and China will gladly snap her up. Even the male players often criticise their own performance when they do not play well. Abeg make we hear word.

While she is within her rights to express her views, she should be careful so as not to be targeted.

I think she talks too much. She's all over social media from tunde ednut's page to instablog to many random naija celebs posts, dropping comments you would think she's a blogger.

Forget.. the last draw.

Barca and Madrid are close to that form they’ve been known for.

Watch them very well.

Now she knows how it feels like. Many of us feel the same way, when she and her colleagues in the super falcons team play. They even failed to qualify for next year's Olympics

This here is the root of the problem in Nigeria. Don't talk so you don't loose your job/position.

Instead of her to criticize Messi for deceiving we the barcelonian fans that he would deliver UCL to us this year, she's busy criticizing ball
