Yet with the federal allocations, the people of the so called states are still impoverished.

Can Nigeria survive without the resources from SS?. If the FG for any reason, wouldn't give allocations to the States, then they should be allowed to control their resources & cater for their needs. This is what some poverty ravaged States wouldn't want to hear. No wonder they dread disintegration more than Ebola.

Lagos, Rivers, Akwa ibom, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers.

When you have a big dream and coupled with faith, you don't care about where you are presently, you focus on achieving your dream, so you focus on where you are heading to.

Rivers is surving on maximum taxation of oil and gas workers in the state.

No it can't if oil money goes, the economy goes too, the tax goes too. Many industries ing or not will fold. The few one's remaining(non oil - beverages, breweries, foods etc) will have low patronage. The fact is if oil stops Nigeria collapses. This is why Buhari closed border so that we can look inwards and develop things that are not oil dependant.

Honestly, while the current reality shows that but the truth is every state in Nigeria has what it takes to survive without federal allocations!

The informal sectors are the engine room of every state and they are very active with huge cashflow being circulated in the hands of politicians!

The question you need to ask is since the cry of the current bad economy situation in Nigeria, have you heard of any market that got closed? (Think about it and who is collecting those government revenue from those markets)
