Humility017: Agbolanhor, Solanke, Jordan Ibe,John Fashanu @ the bolded Also these guys were born in England and raised in England, The English FA sponsored them through youth training and different tournaments. We should be respectful of ourselves enough to have our own production line and not be seen as vultures that poach only when the talent has been groomed 2 Likes |

Earthquake1: I am so surprised you're saying this.... so unfortunate the average Nigerian is more discriminatory than you can ever think...... any Nigerian anywhere provided he or she has what it takes to move Nigeria forward should be approached and recruited...... those players you mentioned where never captied by 3 lions save for agbonlahor... the rest where never cap tied and still not cap tied.... we should respect ourselves? ?? what do we have that we should respect ourselves with ![]() please just leave this country.... corruption will never allow us set up academics even to manage a professional league we can't and you're saying pride should rob us from recruiting sane and well to do Nigerians all because we can protect the dignity we don't have |

Earthquake1: is it the job of the government to set up academics or private individuals and persons interested in club management? how does setting up academics or why should it stop us from going after foreign born players..... even European countries still do go after foreign born or groomed nationals e.g the case of Dbyala and more.... so why the cry... ![]() are the foreign born players stopping us from setting up academics.... just in case you don't know.... our academics will barely grow to real standard because many a time after this players get signed by foreign clubs the top management take better part of the money or rather keep the money for themselves buy new cars, travel abroad for vacation with their families instead of investing the money back into the academics...... BJ foundation was looking for aid to back their traveling for FA cup games just 2 years after the sale of Isaac success to Udinese/Granada what happened to the millions of Naira made from his sale ? have you asked yourself why the Chinese companies are doing so we'll globally today and the Nigeria companies even in Nigeria barely make headway.... ![]() the Africa man...most have a screwed way of thinking. |

Earthquake1: I was thinking you're reasonable the likes of you will jump up and run off to south Africa or any Europe country if given a Visa..... and come here to form patriotism. the likes of you...I won't be surprised if can discriminate on the basis of tribe, religion or skin color because you can't think broad.... the likes of you will jump at the opportunity to study abroad in any European country even in Cyprus..... you should be thinking of how to maximize both ways.... the local academics and home groomed Nigerians born abroad.... does approaching foreign born players stop us from grooming home grown players....? so why ignore them and discriminate against them all because they're born and groomed abroad.... little wonder why the caste system of the OSU "outcast" is still practised till today approach them, the ones interested will will move to and if not...move on..... you should think broad...and learn to maximize diverse routes to your advantage. and for inferiority complex.... you accused me of.... where I have been to and what I have seen in life you've not seen it...you've no idea of who I am. please next time just take held because you don't know me at all...... 4 Likes 1 Share |

stop making it sound like players groomed and raised in Nigeria are been neglected. the senior national team of every footballing nation is made up of the best the nation have to boast of. more advanced and developed nations have tapped into the same practice of capping and having numerous players with dual citizenship even those that have no biological connection with them or of the same race and it has benefited them immensely. of late various local academies and amateur teams have produced players who were snapped up and made names for themselves in our youth teams afterwards moved to europe and are important of the current super eagles set up and the u23 team. the likes of chukwueze, omeruo, azeez, etebo, jamilu collins, iheanacho, ndidi, success, oshimeh, awonyi, dennis, just to mention a few are products from the local scene who rose to become integral part of the super eagles and the current u23 team. the aim of bringing in these European born lads is to build a formidable squad that can compete with the best in the world but not to the detriment of kids from the local scene. when it comes to players invitation i think rohr have been very fair since he took charge of the team which means that there is no sign of favoritism towards locally groomed lads and their European born counterparts. More than two months after the conclusion of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, coach Gernot Rohr has finally revealed the player to be blamed for the injury time goal conceded by the Super Eagles in their 2-1 loss to Algeria in the semifinal of the competition. With almost the last kick of the game, Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez scored a brilliant free-kick to send Algeria through to the final for the first time in 29 years. According to Rohr, the Super Eagles players did everything in their power to prevent the ball from going in and Henry Onyekuru had to lie down behind the wall. The German absolved the Monaco winger of any blame and pointed an accusing finger at Daniel Akpeyi. In an interview published by German newspaper Mannheimer Morgen today, Rohr explained : ''At first, it was unfortunate that this foul had even occurred near the 18-yard box. ''Then the wall wanted to jump, and one threw himself on the floor to fend off the ball. We took care of everything, just that our goalkeeper was not behind the wall''. Daniel Akpeyi has not been invited to the Super Eagles since the end of the 2019 AFCON, missing the friendly against Ukraine and is not listed among the 23 players in contention to face Brazil on October 13. |

There is no harm in getting players of dual nationality to play for us but a more sustainable model is to have a system at home that s and groom home players into top class professionals. The likelihood of dominance at both Africa and the world level is higher with such a model not forgetting d huge economic benefits as well. However, this model is something like a utopian dream for now as other sectors that could such a system are non-existent in Nigeria hence we just have to maximize what we have at the moment!
