Hero Beer or ‘Oh Mpa’ as it's fondly called by beer drinkers as a mark of respect (Mpa means father in Igbo language, one of the 3 major languages in Nigeria) is brewed and bottled by Intafact Beverages Limited which is in turn owned by SABMiller, a subsidiary of Anhe-Busch InBev (AB InBev). SABMiller plc was a multinational brewing and beverage company based in London until 2016 when it was acquired by AB InBev, the biggest brewers in the world. AB InBev. is a Belgian-Brazilian company. It is said however, that Peter Obi, the then Governor of Anambra State where Intafact Beverages Limited is located, facilitated the process of attracting SABMiller to invest in the state in 2012 and he is also rumoured to be a shareholder. Int’l Breweries’ Hero Lager gets conferred with ‘red cap’ crown cork title Hero, a lager beer from the stable of International Breweries Plc, a proud part of the world’s largest brewer, Anhe-Busch InBev, (AB InBev), has been knighted with a new crown cork. The company said on Sunday that the beer, now has a Red Cork and the title of “Mmanya ejiri mara Igbo’’ (The lager with which Igbos are known).
