I think it is about time that Nigerians focus more and assess a government's success or lack thereof based on the programs that it puts in place to help the citizens and not on the ethnicity. It would be out of norm and character for any citizen living in abject poverty to vote gainst his/her self interest. Rich folks would never do that but you can always count on poor people to a leader who is out to impoverish them simply because they are of the same ethnicity. Let me remind you that a poor man from one ethnic group has more in common with a poor man of different ethnicity; than he has with a rich fellow from his ethnic group.

There's nothing for a poor man to gain from a bad leader from the same ethnicity other than the fact that both come from the same area, which really does not provide a roof over his head, put food on his table or send his children to school. Nigerians should view this dichotomy as the poor versus the rich and not any other way. Not until the poor masses unite to fight against the filthy rich crooks, things would never change because they would always use ethnicity as a wedge to divide the people in order to maintain the status quo.

As citizens of a nation we should begin to educate ourselves on the specifics of what had made us poor and backwards for decades and the immediate steps we need to take to get us out of problems. Any nation facing what we have seen today will be angry, mad that investment is going to a competing neighbour. We need to start getting angry about the right things to progress.

Nigeria has upheld the continents economy for long. We have ed the biggest multinationals with a large, viable, profitable opportunity despite our poverty. Every sector from banking, to retail, to telecommunications has Nigeria as their biggest market, yet when it comes to the cream of the crop, the real economic multiplier, manufacturing, they prefer to go somewhere else.

It is sad and vexing. Are we a universal toilet, a dumping ground, a use and dump country... It will be foolish for Toyota to setup an assembly plant in Nigeria because Nigeria does have a market for new automobile. let's analyze it, in Japan, USA, UK, etc, a graduate who gets his first job can afford to buy a new car via a flexible payment plan. We don't have such a system in Nigeria, instead the likes of Coscharis, Innoson, and Nissan that assemble cars in Nigeria have to depend on banks, a few companies, government purchase via civil service, security agency, and MDA's to survive. Toyota coming to Nigeria will simply mean that they are here to compete for government purchases it simply doesn't make any business sense. And before we point fingers at Buhari, this trend has been in play for more than 20years, Nigeria has a huge population with low purchasing power that can't afford new vehicles.

Unfortunately, you are making zero economic sense with this statement of yours. I guess you are trying to shift blame from lame buhari by saying this trend started 20years ago. Do you know the cost of shipping a new or used car from overseas to nigeria? Do you know the cost, corruption and other unnecessary delays just a clear that car from our ports? Now if the said car is assembled in Nigeria, all of those cost won't be payed by the end .making the said car more affordable. Individually, Nigerians are more than capable in buying new card in as much as the prices are not inflated due to external factors.
