I saw statement from police. They said the sars operatives were chasing an alleged kidnapper.

Story from residence around the area was that they were chasing an alleged yahoo boy.

Who do I believe now? Locals or police?

It's crazy how you're casually waving off the death of an innocent person as a mere 'mistake', such that does not deserve grave consequences. So people (including the late victim's family and loved ones) should simply carry on with their lives. I pray you experience this first hand soon, so that you would receive sense.

And then again, assuming these fools were actually fighting criminality - engaging real security threats like armed robbers and kidnappers - and in the process, a stray bullet accidentally killed an innocent nearby, that would be more understandable and perhaps forgivable. But no, these fools were chasing suspected yahoo boys... UNARMED yahoo boys, for no other reason but to forcefully extort them! In the course of such a reprobate and disgusting unlawful activity, they killed someone... And you are here talking about mistake? Quit being so obnoxious, so that you will be unfortunate in life!

The lynched SARS bastard fully deserves his fate. Let him rot in hell where he belongs.

Blood sucking trigger anxious untrained riffle carriers,

Chasing yahoo boy's is now your primary obligation just to extort money from them

and killing innocent souls that got nothing to do with it.

I am not surprised most of them don't understand what the word 'harm' connote. 99.9% of the people on this forum lack intellect. The new cool now is to paint a criminal act as a lesser evil and when it becomes a menace, the same people benefiting from it now will be first to call on the government. I think the Nigerian laws governing fraud should be reviewed and the penalty made stiffer to serve as a deterrent to those nursing the act. 20yrs jail term should do.

Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have killed a shop owner in Ijegun area of Lagos.

Biliki was hit by a bullet on Saturday after the policemen fired at a suspect who was on the run.

Igbere TV gathers that the shop owner was hit while in her store which is on a street close to the Oba’s palace.

One of the SARS operatives was immediately mobbed by irate residents.

Biliki was said to have died in a hospital.

Lagos police spokesman, Bala Elkana, has not made a statement on the incident.

Fools like you are often quick to shout brain brain brain as if you know what it is.

You have to be incredibly daft to equate Internet fraud and violent crimes. Where in the world even in the harshest of countries with the most punitive jurisprudential systems are the penalties for Internet scams and violent crimes the same?

Where in the world do law enforcement agents clamp down on Internet fraudsters with maximum force as though they were violent threats? And here, in this useless shithole of a country where the clearly designated SPECIAL ANTI ROBBERY SQUAD (SARS) left their jobs to chase purported internet scammers with maximum force of arms, and ended up killing an innocent person in the process and yet all your stooopid self can come up with is an attempt to justify this ridiculousness by equating Internet fraud with violent crime?

Please don't quote me to spew nonsense next time. Revel in the comfort of your own idiocy if you like, but leave me out of it.

So you would rather be kidnapped (and possibly be brutally gangraped if you're a woman, maimed, have all your properties sold off and obtain loans to pay ransom, and then eventually lose your life in the process) than be defrauded? Don't worry, I'm not you're not sensible enough to know the implications of each of these things.

I wonder why civilians can sue the police. In a sane society like USA the police will be slammed with a police brutality suit nothing less than 6m dolls. Here the citizens have been made to believe the govt is doing them a favor when infact we are the ones paying the govt

In this case, that suit wouldn't hold..... They didn't attack her specifically.....she was caught in the crossfire .....

The highest would be an internal investigation into the operation and suspension or a forced leave slammed on the officers to appease the public....

That's the blunt truth.... Doesn't make it right though..

Sentiments.....you are the one who has involved sentiment into the case because of the lost life..... Which is quite understandable as we are humans....

Putting the whole operation into perspective is impossible for common folks such as yourself and I, however, their are obvious points we can reason from..

- SARS operatives have the constitutional rights to carry live ammunition and use it as due....
- circumstances that lead to the supposed chase is unknown to u and I....

I do not condone the whole event and I feel sorry for the deceased and her family.... But it could be an unfortunate turn of events with maybe honest operatives doing their jobs...

Lol. What do you mean by sentiment?

Even in the US, you don't randomly pursue drug dealers or fraudsters with assault rifles in the midst of civilians. The risks are much so why bother? Also the police there are better trained, still they don't take risks. Do you know what it means to shoot an innocent person, even if its an injury? The state would have to pay for it. They can't afford such excesses. They would rather let a criminal go than risk life.

I don't know, but you need to read and learn more. Look beyond Nigeria. The kind of UNIT SARS is is not one that should be seen everyday. The "S" means "Special". There's something similar in the US called S.W.A.T. No be anyhow you dey see dem. They are special for a reason. Of what use is it getting into danfo buses just to terrorise small boys? Even with SARS, SAKS and SACS, crime is still at an all time high? So how exactly are they doing their job. Na by gun? Abeg.

and who told you it won't hold, shooting at an unarmed civilian who isn't resisting arrest physically is already a strike against the force, shooting at an unarmed civilian from the back is murder. What you have is a lawless tyranic government that don't even obey law orders let alone respect human rights. Sars can continue killing are much as they want but every dog has his day

so you mean yahoo yahoo boys are harmless ....Osanobua ooooo...... So someone can reason like this...chai , education is in trouble .... So imagine your wonderful uncle who pays your school fees is swindled of his hard earn #10000000... What do you think will be the aftermath effect ? How many people survive such ordeal ?

A wise man once said "who brain is given sense is expected "

I never, in anyway, insinuated that Yahoo boys are harmless. I only asked to state the extent of their crime that would allow SARS (which, by the way, has no business with internet fraud) to open fire with an assault rifle in public. Is it worth risking innocent civilians because you want to catch a boy that allegedly swindled someone?

They are ways to do this. If you have proof, track down the boy, go to his house with am arrest warrant, and pick him up.

Surely you are the one who needs education to understand how society is run.

I agree a lot of them are bad, but this man may just be one good one doing his job who just got into a fatal error. You name clearly doesn't depict who you are.
Why would a Federal law enforcement agent open fire in a public place for a start?
Why would he open fire on an unarmed "yahoo boy" in the first place?
The problem is that these men are not properly trained. They are just handed gun after ing blood test without proper training of how to handle situations like this in public. They are meant to undergo a mental evaluation test at least once a year to ascertain their state of mind, if they are eligible to carry fire arms. Did you watch that video where a SARS operative was irked because a 'yahoo suspect' was walking too slow and then he shot him in the leg. For what?

Imagine trying to shoot someone in a market place, and you miss your shot, who do you think the bullet will hit? This is why Law enforcement agents/ Military personnel should not open fire in a public place if they are chasing a criminal/enemy
I don't the jungle justice but we all know if he leaves that place alive, he'll just be given a smack on the wrist for killing a pregnant woman.

Truth is, Nigeria still has about 300years to develop up to 15% of what the western world is

You are getting it all wrong here. The question is;
Why would a Law Enforcement agent open fire in a public place?
Why would you shoot at an "unarmed yahoo boy"?

Even if he is indeed a criminal, why not chase him till you get him or track him at a later time. Besides, he is stepping outside his jurisdictions- What business does an Anti-Kidnapping agent have with a suspected internet fraudster?
It is totally stupid and unprofessional for someone like that to just open fire in public just to catch a 'yahoo boy'?

Were the bastard SARS chasing a "suspected kidnapper" or were they actually chasing a harmless so-called yahoo boy? We all know the truth. You fools have left your job (which is to focus on armed robbers and kidnappers), and now prefer to chase unarmed boys all over the place to extort them. And in the process you shoot live bullets... Can you imagine? God punish all of you.

Make una no worry. Boys will eventually wake up, and you fools called SARS and others like you would be lynched on a daily basis. Just continue chasing after rats instead of focusing on your lawful mandate.
To me an anti police cult group should be formed by all these cultists in Nigeria. Its only when everything goes very bad the government gives a damn. We have been decrying this inhumane treatment by SARS and no one cares. When an anti police terrorist group is formed, then listening ears will be guaranteed.
