No doubt, mtn will open on full bid. No doubt some interested persons here would put in bids but may not get a single unit. No doubt the full bids would last for some days and price would consequently appreciate. That is the point where some of us would now enter and in the next couple of dayz you will start to hear "my portfolio is down by 10%" "I bailed out at tesere loss" "I will just keep averaging down" etc until mtn go come make us pay for the remaining fine, and the penalty for tax defaults etc etc

Am trying to understand why MTN with all the information at their disposal, will choose to list their shares at N90 if it's truly worth more than double of it (N190 according to Cordros). Maybe this is MTN Bonanza and a way of giving back to Nigerians. Maybe! This is the same way Prophet Utuocha made noise and sold Starcomms and Tantalizer shares to us years back. 7 Likes 1 Share |

So, I've gleaned these from the comments here. Reasons to BUY or NOT TO BUY MTN Nigeria to Buy - IPO's usually rally for a few weeks or even months before falling, the trick is to know when to jump out, JIJO crew ![]() - Numbers released so far are very juicy, healthy year on year % growth in key performance indicators - Dividends are uhlalah ![]() - Momentum is more important than fundamentals, MTN is the rave of the moment, coupled with scarcity price will rally not to Buy - Before listing results are always to rosy, after you jump in the losses pile up and deductions of various kinds start poping up ![]() - IPO's are usually overpriced, better wait for a few results to better gauge it's worth, there will always to an opportunity to enter at a good price - The market is bearish, and has beaten down fundamentally sound companies to attractive prices, better buy a stock with years of stable earnings, dividends etc than the new kid on the block - Retail investors won't get in at an attractive price, ending up holding the empty can ![]() In all, Due Diligence is advised 6 Likes |

yom2: https://businessday.ng/exclusives/article/mtn-stock-set-to-rally-on-perceived-scarcity/ A CEO of one of Nigeria’s leading stock-broking firm told BusinessDay that “almost all shareholders of MTN are not willing to sell”, adding that “even those that will sell are going to offer the units that cannot meet the high demand”. “The demand will automatically lead to a rally for the stocks. I can tell you now that I have over 1 billion units of demand for MTN stocks but I am yet to see a shareholder that is willing to sell,” the CEO said. One stockbroker with order for over 1 billion units ![]() ![]() ![]() |

yom2: It depends on the type of ownership. MTN will not be selling. The major investors are not likely going to be selling. Most of those who will be selling are those that urgently need the money. That said, MTN will do an IPO later. 2 Likes |

NSE and SEC should have compelled MTN South Africa to divest part of their holdings as offer for sale to Nigerians. Between 1b to 2b

Because they got a reprieve from the NCC Fine. If MTN RSA will not sell at N90, who will then throw away money at N90. Imagine 50,000 units @ N99 = 4.95m. Is the stock now worth N150 or N300 for it to excite MTN RSA to sell. They already have 74.3%, let them cede the 4.3% and everyone will still be okay.

wanaj0:Welcome back Sir! Good to see your post here once more. In my view, they want to use this listing by introduction to drive up the price before the IPO and them dump at a high price on unsuspecting investors during the IPO. 2 Likes |
