The reason I asked this question is because I don't see myself leaving my family behind.

Having them after is ok, as long as it doesn't exceed 3months.

I am currently considering the pros and cons of applying for a direct PhD since i hold a Msc degree.

As for funds, I believe I have more than enough to open block s for my entire household. If money is the only impediment then I guess I am good to go.

I am currently researching this and I am also grateful for all the contributions here.

Keep an open mind. Don't be fixed on 3months or less.

The reunion visa process takes time.
A lot of verifications to be done.
Have in mind 6 to 9 months.
Don't worry the first three months you won't really miss them because of the stress of settling in but from 4/5th month you start missing them. ( talking from experince)
Think well nd make the right choice.

Did you not apply under studentwerk.( you ususlly get the notification with your ission letter...but that's for mittweida sha)
Mittweida and freiberg both use the same. It's actually a very simple process.

I will snap and send the first appointment letter, the second appointment letter, I won't snap the receipts for my payment of both the winter and summer semester cos it contains my personal information but I can even cover those information sef, I will snap my winter ission letter, the Summer semester letter which is not an ission letter, my A.M, and my dhl tracking. I think it's better you take chemnitz.
But check your courses well and make the right choice.
