UPDATE ON THE PROCESSING OF PTDF OVERSEAS AND LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR THE 2019/20 ACADEMIC SESSION

The application window for the PTDF Local Scholarship Scheme (LSS) closed November 16th, 2018 while the Overseas Scholarship Scheme(OSS)window closed December 31st, 2018. Each window was open for a period of 6 weeks.

The Fund received applications for each of its programs as follows:

(i)    MSC Overseas Scholarship Scheme (OSS)        – 15,822

(ii)    PHD Overseas Scholarship Scheme (OSS)          – 3,501

(iii)    MSC Local Scholarship Scheme (LSS)                – 3,393

(iv)    PHD Local Scholarship Scheme (LSS)                – 1, 017

(v) Under Graduate (LSS)                                                  – 3,741

 NEXT STEPS

The next step in the selection process is the screening of applications for interviews based on the following criteria:

Class of degree
O-level Grades
Strength of personal statement

Applicants who meet the minimum requirements for the program and possess the best credentials based on the strength/quality of their qualifications and relevance of their proposed study to the Fund’s mandate will be invited for interviews at a date to be announced.

When I was filling in my statement of purpose, I arranged it into paragraphs, but when I finished, and I viewed it in the template of personal statement, it wasn't in paragraph, it was scattered. I copied and pasted it in the template, I don't know if that will be the cause.
I want to know whether someone in the house typed directly into the personal statement template and still found out it was still disorganised when viewed from the template after application.

From my experience, both cases yield the same result. No need for worries!!

Ptdf has updated us on how the selection process will be, the three major criteria is quite sensitive for selection.
Coz of class of degree,so many first class graduates will be favoured unlike 2.2 graduates

That should even make you more scared when you realise that its just about 10 candidates, at most, from each state that will make it into any of the countries. That's about 2.5% of the figure you came up with.

Yes They will ask for publications and academic merit prizes/awards at the interview. They award one point for each article and you can get maximum of five points in publications

3.73/5.0....that's a 2.1. Yes you can crossover to public health, I've seen health economist, health insurance analyst etc... Public health is very broad and diverse. As per scholarships and countries, keep on the lookout for ads, and apply to as many as you can.It's scholarship season

You welcome, though epidemiology without a bioscience background will be challenging, you will be playing catch up to your colleagues...Try the management aspects like istration, monitoring and evaluation, s etc...Trust me you will be in your element. There it's us that are playing catch up.

Nah...I want to branch out of management into science but I'll be more comfortable in health economics. Thank u tho u've been really helpful..hopefully I get a scholarship to assist
