Raylight2:They haven't spoken anything yet. The speech you've been seeing was made on January 8 and yes, NEC meeting is still holding with voting ongoing. |

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has barred its from participating in the 2019 general elections processes. It also said the offer from the Federal Government in the efforts to meet its demands as contained in the 2017 Memorandum of Action (MoA) is still fluid and far from expectations. It, however, allows to voluntarily participate but without using any material that bears ASUU or insignia that relates to the union. In a strike Bulletin 8 issued and signed by the union’s President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, a copy of which was obtained by the University of Ibadan chapter of ASUU, asked to await further developments on the strike which are ‘rapidly unfolding.’ According to Ogunyemi, the proposal from government towards resolving the demands of ASUU as contained in the 2017 MoA is still fluid and far from expectations. The bulletin read: “Though some progress has been made with respect to discussion with Government agents (The Minister of Labour and Employment as well as Minister of Education), at the moment, the proposal from Government towards resolving the demand of ASUU as contained in 2017 MoA and Strike Bulletin 1 is still too fluid and far from expectations. Hence, it is the view of the NSCC that should await further developments which are rapidly unfolding. “In accordance with the ASUU’s long standing position, ASUU as a union will not participate in the conduct of 2019 general elections, although may voluntarily participate in the conduct of the elections. However, are prohibited from participating in the election processes using any material that bears ASUU or relates to the union” |

I just thank God that I had a copy of this bulletin. I'm surprised seeing mischievous people claiming its the decision arrived at in Today's meeting. Ladies and Gentlemen, once again that is not the result of today's meeting. The bulletin is dated January 8.

Raylight2:Lol. Incompetent newspapers took out bits of the bulletin and packaged it as today's news. I repeat what you typed is originally dated January 8, not Today. 1 Like |

ASUU should call off this strike abeg! They can't possibly get the FG to release more than they have released. Imagine how long it took to release what was released! Let alone when ASUU starts asking for a figure as high as 200billion. Abeg, ASUU leadership should use their heads and know the caliber of people in government they are fighting with. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Jman06:Exactly my thought. The funny part is that if they decide to stay on strike until the govt comply fully they must still get to call it off without the govt complying fully because the govt will never comply fully. They just want to waste somebody's time unnecessarily 2 Likes 1 Share |
