I couldn't tell any of this to my close friends and family cause of shame.
Easier to tell complete strangers you know. I felt ashamed for allowing this to happen.
I got the divorce in 2017 but didn't have the mental energy to kick him out and dealing with the lawyers and such, until this past summer.
I shouldn't be ashamed, the shame isn't mine but it's quite embarrassing to tell family and most friends about such a thing.

He got committed into mental hospital against his will for violent and suicidal behavior before, I found that out much much later.

It's understandable and totally normal that you didn't tell family... The fear of being stigmatised is tangible.

MW strangers are strangers and they don't know you, even when they judge you wrongly it won't matter much (depending on your personality of course).

However, based on the evidences on your posts you may still have some attachment to him, you clearly hate him and you also have anxiety due to your fear and apprehension that he might attack you.

We do not know the extent to which this is affecting your life, the potentials to cause trauma far reaching into diverse aspects of your life. So, you have to do something about your mental health.

Should in case you come visiting the US never stay here as a matter of fact put it up in the market for sale ( my assumption being you own the house). I try my best, I always have the fear in the back of my head he may try to stalk me, even with the ocean in-between. I feel nervous when I see any car following me, if they follow long enough I get spooked and make a diversion to lose them. It's always coincidence just people going the same direction, but if it's small rods and they take all the same turns, I get really spooked and divert to a well-lit crowded place or main road where I can shake them off in traffic.

This is what it looks like after they removed all the trash. That was not cheap. It cost a lot (money I don't have, I took a loan) the realtor lady said it was completely infested with giant roaches and flies, but once all the trash is gone and pest control comes and fogs the house, there will be none left.

They hauled out all the appliances since they were rotten and filthy beyond any hope. There will be a lot of fixing. These people did a wonderful job removing all the heaps of trash. Neighbors had told them he was living in that trash for 2 years and threatening to shoot people if they come near.

Some vultures tried to convince me to sell it as-is, but that will mean I will take a HUGE loss. No no just no. I worked my arse off for a decade and a half and put too much money in that house to give it away. I will fix it and rent it out. There is a lot of stress to deal with and renovating a house is not easy to oversee even when you are in town, let alone overseas.

A friend who has been in real estate business told me it's crazy to try to fix it remotely, from half a world away, contractors will rip me off and not do a good job, I am better off writing it off selling as-is. I said no, no and no. I am not giving away my life's savings. Ex husband already stole all of my savings, I will get this fixed and sell it only after it appreciates a significant amount.

People think I'm crazy but I am not listening. I prayed to the gods and they sent me an angel (a superstar realtor lady) who found the low cost and great contractors, and not above normal market rate. I researched everything and what it costs to do all the items of renovation (including trash removal) and the quotes she got me were the same as the normal market rate. So no rip-offs.
Results look good so far.

It looks much better now, there is no structural damage and no water damage. Which is good. But it will still cost to fix all the accrued damage. I calculated renting it out will recoup all the expenses in about 1.5 years.

He can't, we got the locks changed and my realtor told the neighbors to call the police if he shows up. He has threatened to burn the house down, too. I am hoping to get it in shape and rented out before February. He hasn't been back for weeks. Might have abandoned the place.
