My RN5 fell in a bucket of water yesterday and I got it out immediately (after about 2 seconds) and had it switched off, dried out, had all the holes up & down checked, redried in d sun BUT I still have this water patch on the bottom right corner of the screen (not really conspicuous though) Since I brought the phone out of the rice container this morning (switched off) it's been fine but sometimes the back botton and the mainscreen button at the center of the phone don't respond.
I'm thinking of opening up the phone myself to dry up the inner components to see if it would help. Thanks.

Rather, take this phone to a good phone hardware repairer. Explain the problem and request him to SERVICE your phone for you. This is done to trace and mop up moisture that must have crept into sensitive areas.

Is the phone still working? If yes, that's what you need . Just change the screen. You are lucky is even cheap

Let me chip this about the ussd bank issues. JUST LOCK YOUR SIM(S). Once switched off or changed to another phone, the sim won't be able to work without the pin.
Settings > Additional Settings > Privacy > Sim Card lock
