A Nigerian soldier who has been in the northeast region for two years now - has called on the army authorities to consider and rotate soldiers due to increasing rate of deaths of troops. According to him, overstay of gallant soldiers in the region - makes their morale weak in the battlefield.

The soldier urged the army authorities to give their deployment to the northeast a duration so that fresh hands can come and fight against Boko Haram insurgents.

The plea was shared online by the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, Kaduna state. Read below;

Morning , with heavy heart and grieve in my heart I am writing to you for assistance. I am in north east ( Borno State). This is my two years in this operation and what I experience on first of march this year since my two years in this operation I have never seen it.

For I know in war front care is prerequisite but this one that happened make me thinking because I realize the cause of the rampart death is overstay of soldiers in north east.

This is what I observed in the front line, It makes the morale of troops weak in the battle field, the strength to fight terrorist is lost and the hope is gone. For I am saying this due to my experience, for I can ed when we first come the moral of troops was so strong that we do pushed this people without fear or thinking behind but as time goes on that's how tidiness started,

No morale, men become weak and that's the beginning of our problem in the battlefield.

Please my short plead is that let Nigerian Army make this operation just like other operation where soldiers are been rotated, at least let there be a rotation even if it take one three times to come.

I wish this my cry go far to reach the right destination. Please let the operation have duration please overstay is killing us. Thanks for your effort towards my cry!!

2yrs n u're crying! My friend has been in Maiduguri chibor precisely, going 2 4yrs now.

The drum beat has not stopped but this 'python' is tired of dancing.

It doesn't work that way.

Fatigue is slowly setting in. 2 years is simply too much for our brave soldiers. Ideally it should be 6 months. Army HQ should do something about it.

What he said is true.it's normal for the morale to drop because there is no rest there.They are constantly on alert. If you have a loved one in the army you will understand better.i just wish they will always rotate the troops to the northeast.No matter how strong they are,they are humans

Sad. It's because they are alive. Their dead body is what they want to carry back home.
As for the fresh hands the soldier wants to be deployed. New recruits from those who successfully applied for the Nigerian Army internship should be drafted there as a qualifying test/exam and thereafter a sudden interview

My dear brother. Most people that make comments here doesn't have relatives in the Army that's why they don't feel your pains. I have loss two of my dearest friends to this so call Boko Haram war. It was over stay that certainly kill my friends.

this was exactly what killed Lt Col Abu Alli. you don't leave a soldier in the front line for years no matter how effective that platoon is.
They call it, combat tours. it's a way to manage the unthinkable situations and emotions soldiers go through during war.
six months on the front line - under constant fire is enough. pull them out, rest them for six months.
i repeat, it is more than enough.

This issue needs to be looked into as a matter of urgency.

Infact sanctions should be melted out to those who failed to effect their postings as at when due.

But unfortunately nothing may still happens because we no longer have professional military but political military.

Please if your pleas is not listened to try and make your request through your governor or senator or house of rep . That is what they have turned the country to. You are nobody unless u are connected to a politician.

its really unfair.. I stay at Maryland. a friend of mine died in the struggle, a lot of my friends are at the war front. I pray for them every time because I sleep every night while they try to protect people like me. tho its God that protects human but military people are trying and they deserve respect
