Originalsly: I reapeat...all the places listed has an elected government that allows them to make laws on behalf of the citizens, which is exactly what Lagos State has done. |

ODVanguard: Show me where it was mandatory in tertiary institutions as entrance requirement, why would Igbo be compulsory in a university, does it even make sense? What are you going to use it for if all lectures are in English? I guess you didn't read your sources before posting them. |

ODVanguard:Stop lying and misleading people, did the university make it compulsory that you must have credit in Igbo before they will accept student to enter their university. Higher institutions in lagos can make Yoruba compulsory course in their schools but not that you must have credit in yoruba before you enter the school. You people know how to lie and twist things. 1 Like |

Vcblinks: I will repeat it million times.Yoruba's are not Ibo's problems,Ibo's are not yoruba's problems. The problems of Nigerians are non Nigerians, there is power behind all the acts you see happening in Nigeria. When money is looted, the banks in the diaspora knows those funds were stolen but they need it to develop their countries, hence they keep quiet. So our problems is from outside,Panama papers reveals alot of secrets. The issue of batrayal as you put it is not exclusive to just one ethnic,it happens among all the tribes.I think protectionalism is why people don't want others to succeed in same venture with them, Ibo's have sectors of business they protect and would not want other tribes to decipher. It is not about labelling one ethny as saint and castigating the other. The way the country is been governed it is a matter of time before things fall apart. |

Na wah for una o. But honestly we Yoruba's don't give a flipping fvck bout your feeling, neither does Ambode. 1shortblackboy:Yes China and Japan always protect and preserve their languages. Wherever the Chinese Premier go in the world even while addressing the UN, he speaks Chinese. When he was visiting Nigeria years back, he spoke Chinese throughout his stay even to our English language loving president who only relied on interpreters to understand what he said. Let's preserve our culture now for the unborn generation. Must we be useless in everything and in all ramifications? I tire o! 9 Likes |

bakynes:yea but u your oba told them that he will throw them to the lagoon if they don't vote for the preferred candidate,so action and reaction are equal but look at d system Nigeria operates though I have canvassed that all Igbo's should go back home but everything is in lagos, bank headquarters, companies headquarters and every thing and put in one place so there is a tendency for the Igbo's that have been chastised,no presence of federal parastatals the region have been left abandoned so d igbos migrate.so I will you on that regionalization on the basis of equal fairness. |

prettyangel10: You need to understand that Nigeria is one country, your region is where ever you find your self. If I live in Lagos, then it is my region and I have same right as any other Legosian. Pls get it right babe. You are no more Lagosian than I am, whether you claim to be Youroba. Same rules apply to me and you. 1 Like |

As a Yoruba guy as inasmuch as I want language proliferation as much as possible, I think this is just wrong and discriminatory by all factors. Firstly, many of us live outside Yoruba land and we are not being forced to learn the local language to integrate. I'm more than a year in a northern state and "soonu" is the only local language I can speak, yet I'm doing just fine. Secondly, the Yoruba language is already being made popular in songs. Almost everywhere we turn to, people who are not of our tribe are singing secular and religious songs in Yoruba language with gusto. I think this ought to be enough for us. I wish Lagos State relaxes this discriminatory law as soon as possible. 2 Likes |

prettyangel10: No law is final, it can be appealed. Thank God, you agree you don't have more claim over Lagos than I have. Yourobas may influence the happenings in Lagos today, just because they are majority, it may be different tomorrow. |

ositadima1: You see your life, that's how you get it wrong, for your info, I will claim Lagos State more often, because I'm Yoruba, And I'm proud to be one, you, what's your deal about Lagos State? You always keep saying Lagos is no man's land, now the owners of Lagos State decides to a Law and you are all jumping at Yorubas, if you don't like it, like I said earlier, go to another state that will favour you, or better still, go develop your state too. We are not forcing anyone to speak d language shotigbo, ko ba ara e da soun. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

Sir don't you think you guys are committing the same mistake? You are forcing down your language on non Yorubas Those who cannot learn will be indirectly sent packing This is bullying and a sign of not being hospitable. Do you know that in states like Taraba, Plateau, Edo, Delta and Kogi that there are several languages? What they do is to either speak pidgin, English or a major/common language. Unlike Oyo, Ogun and the others Lagos is a place of commerce and transition (travelling in and out of Nigeria), So people may not be able to learn the language in the short time they spend there. I do not come from the 3 major tribes but I've lived in all 3 regions. I personally don't find it easy to learn languages even when I try hard. My French friends struggle to speak English with me cause they know the Chances of me learning French instead is slim. I do not hate any Nigerian language but it's not right for anyone to dominate others. This will be the same offence of the English man. If every non-Yoruba left Lagos or the West generally, you will shocked at the abysmal result. Please one Nigeria. I recommend the entire NL listen to Evi Edna Ogoli's song "Lingua Franca" Which one of them we go speak PS: not all Yorubas hear each other. Oyo may not hear Oyo. Egba may not hear Ekiti |
