For the records, Azikiwe's NCNC never won majority of the seats in the western house of assembly in 1951. It is an unfortunate lie that has always been repeated to dent Awolowos image. Majority of the got elected on their individual strength and not on the platform of any political party. It was when the house was to be inaugurated that they all took side with either AG or NCNC. Awolowo rightfully insisted that should seat along party line in order to put a lie to the propaganda of NCNC that they won the majority of seats. Majority of the elected ed AG on inauguration day and hence, Awolowo formed the government.
