An Eland 90 outside a retirement home in Irene.

This is one of three Elands I know of on display in the Pretoria area. The other two were plinthed outside the legal office at AFB Swartkops for many years. I have no idea if they're still there; when I was on the base in 2014 I couldn't find them.

Perhaps somebody who's had reason to visit Swartkops recently can provide an update?

Illegal miners in trouble. Spot the new camo difference. Is it for this specific operation or a transition to this new uniform.

At least they won't be caught hunting gemsboks grin

They probably want to distribute to the local participating soldiers as good will, my opinion though.

With a spree of cash-in-transit heists taking place around the country, we need more of these guys.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE BEGINS DE-INDUCTION OF RETURNING SPECIAL FORCES

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Medical Services Branch has commenced a 2-week de-induction programme for NAF Special Forces returning from combat in the North East. The de-induction programme, which is at the instance of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, is the first of its kind in the history of the NAF. It is aimed at ensuring the physical and mental well being of combatants before they are reunited with their families and re-integrated into the larger society. The programme is also to ensure that personnel with post-traumatic stress disorder such as anxiety, nightmare and psychological depression are adequately treated. While serving in the North East, some of the personnel could have developed physical and mental stresses as well as direct physical/combat injuries, the effects of which could last for a long period well after leaving the combat zone and hence, the need for the programme.
Declaring the programme open at 351 Medical Centre, Minna, the Chief of Medical Services (CMS), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Saleh Shinkafi, stated that a team of various health professionals such as psychiatrists, physicians, clinical psychologists, counsellors and social workers has been constituted to conduct the de-induction programme. According to the CMS, the NAF would take full responsibility for anyone found to have any medical problem now or in the future while there would also be close monitoring of their health for a few months after the programme. While commending the returning personnel for their commitment, dedication to duties and sacrifices made in the fight against insurgency, AVM Shinkafi further stated that the re-integration process is part of the efforts of the current NAF istration to add value to the lives of the personnel.

More Shared Accord 2017

It's officially the most boring Shared Accord by far... No beach landing, no night assaults, no urban warfare, no machinized, no air jump assaults like last time... I'm disappointed.

They should take it back to the Eastern Cape, maybe they can add jungle warfare as well and make it interesting.

It seems like the Americans came prepared... The South-Africans weren't interested in the show... Them being in Lohatla I thought they (the SANDF) would bring out the big guns, roll over some sh#t and invade some imaginary country like they did in the Eastern Cape.

Well the "theme" for this year's Accord was Humanitarian/Peacekeeping.

Yes, but more importantly we need a functioning and depoliticised crime intelligence unit which is the most important component with regard to CIT and other high risk crimes.

Maybe with new national leadership (president) we could send other guys to be schooled by the FBI like the Scorpions. This is getting out of hand. A CIT heist this morning, an attempted heist on Sunday then the Mpumalanga one caught on video last week as well. The gangs are having a field day.

I don't think the organisers chose a good location for that. The Eastern Cape or possibly KZN would have been better. They would have at least went to real villages with real people and do simulations around that. Then visit the locals for their humanitarian activities, they would have more than a handful people to help out.
