OP the fact that you compare the SE comprising of just 5 states with the entire Nothern region with 19 states has already answered your question ![]() However, Op ask your leaders that are begging Igbo's to remain in Nigeria cause stating it here will crash Nairaland... Or do you want to run Seun out of business or you want Afonjas to call us chest beaters this early morning ![]() Even your youth didn't think their joke of a threat will be taken seriously now the north is divided only important people can do that. ![]() |

Here is a brief review of the resources of the South East region: Abia state This is the commercial hub of fabrics in Igbo land. The state is gifted with human and natural resources meet for fabrics such as clothes, shoes and other wears. The ingenuity of the Abia people lies in their somewhat mystical talent to construct and reconstruct whatever design of wears and fabrics ordered on them. Created in 1991, from the old Eastern, partly from Imo which it bears boundary with, Abia was included to the other 8 Niger Delta states as an oil producing state in Nigeria. Although its capital is Umuahia, its commercial hub is Aba, an ancient city busied with heavy economic activities which had harboured the British outpost. Abia is blessed with numerous resources which if explored will no doubt set the state as one of the very best in the world. Here are the natural/mineral resources in Abia state: Laterite, Tar, Crude Oil, Natural Gas, Lead, Zinc, Flora like Iroko, Mahogany, Obeche, Bamboo, Rubber Tree and Oil Palm, Gypsum, Limestone, Iron Or. Exceptions to these resources aforementioned are the yet to be discovered ones believed so to say, to be domiciled in the state. Anambra State Anambra a name concocted by the British who for their intellectual deficiency of phonological ological interference, were incapable of pronouncing the real name “Oma Mbala,” a name the native people got from their river, Mbala, yet startles the mind of the immeasurable capacity of its people to drive success and development and their distinct ability in dispensing their skills to irk out a living even virtually out of nothing. As ancient as it is, it is one of the newest states created in 1991 with its capital at Awka and commercial hubs as Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, Ihiala and some other viable ones. Commonly called by its slogan “home for all,” Anambra borders Enugu to the East, Imo and Rivers state to the North and Delta to the West. The state is blessed with the following resources: Bauxite, Natural Gas, Crude Oil, Rubber; not forgetting that it has 30 Trillion cubic feet of Gas, deposit of coal. Ebonyi State Just like Anambra and Abia states, the people of Ebonyi are primarily business. Carved from Abia and Enugu state by Abacha in 1996, Ebonyi stands as one of the best agriculturally progressive states in Nigerian. They started off from, though rapidly growing beyond it, subsistent farming. First of its natural resources is land. The land in Ebonyi state including its capital, Abakiliki is a major wealth creator in the state as many of its indigenes engage in Agriculture as their major source of living and creating wealth. Amongst the numerous quite indispensable products produced in the state are rice, yam, potatoes, maize, beans, and cassava in Nigeria. Rice and yams are predominantly cultivated in Edda, a region within the state. The resources of the state include: Lead, Crude Oil, and Natural Gas, but Few Large-scale commercial mines and huge limestone deposit in Nkalagu The state government has, however, given several incentives to investors in the agro-allied sector to encourage production. Ebonyi is called "the salt of the nation" for its huge salt deposit at the Okposi and Uburu Salt Lakes. Others include Sale, Zinc, Lead, Natural Gas, Crude Oil, Gold and other Solid Minerals. Enugu State The coal city (state) and its people share some similarity in business mindedness. Enugu was the capital of the old Anambra state and was split with Anambra in 1991, still retains its capital as Enugu. Commercially viable cities in Enugu state are Enugu town, Agbani, Awgu, Udi, Oji-River, and Nsukka, the home of University of Nigeria, Nsukka which is the first ever indigenous University in Nigeria. Enugu is well endowed with Coal which is where it derives its slogan “Coal City state” from. Other resources include: Zinc, Lead, Oil. Imo State Though it is usually regarded as more educationally minded with its people more seemingly more engaged in academics than business in comparison with other parts of Igbo land especially Anambra and Ebonyi, Imo state is yet blessed with natural resources aside the intellectual resources with Owerri as its capital and commercial hub, borders with Abia State on the East, by the River Niger and Delta State on the west, by Anambra State to the north and Rivers State to the south. Towns that engage the state as a viable economic hub and house its resources aside Owerri include the oil rich Oguta, the business friendly Orlu, Isu, Okigwe, Akokwa, Mbaise, Mbaitoli, Mbieri, Orodo, Nkwerre, Ubulu, Ngor Okpala, Omuma, Mgbidi, Awo-Omamma and Orsu, Ozara etc. Imo is Naturally endowed with natural resources ranging from crude oil, natural gas, lead, zinc, Flora like the iroko, mahogany, obeche, bamboo, rubber tree and oil palm predominate. Though the state battles deforestation as a result of its increasing population with limited land mass, a problem virtually all the Igbo states suffer, it is still a force in the vegetation business second to Ebonyi state.

Olodo Op my grandmother does not know 90% of the food and cash crops you listed up there And she lived way above 90s before she ed on at 106 when she lived Igbo's didn't buy food from the north we farmed what we eat Even till this day most Igbo's in the village farm what they eat and don't use 90% of what you listed there, we farm them in our backyard. Our staple farm products are yam, cassava, rice, potatoes, cocoa yam, palm kernels, plantain, bananas, mangoes, oranges, pineapples, Udala, pears, avacado pears, cherry, vegetables include, bitter leaf, ugwu, waterleaf, live stock, pigs, goats, sheep, turkeys, chickens, just to mention a few and these consist 90% of our foods while we might not have them for export we have more than enough to eat and live above 90years, so northerner should stop the whole 90% food lies ![]() Mind you all the item I listed are in our family compound and farm in my village in Anambra we don't buy any of these things outside except we want to do a party, celebration or something that calls for gathering. I hope you know every Igbo mans house in the village is surrounded by his farm and all of this is most likely grown there too. I didn't mention other products that we don't grow that are on other people's farm. So grow sense.... meanwhile your leaders are still begging us to stay in one Nigeria and you are here making mouth, it's your kind that will keep the fire of Biafra burning strong. |

Ddaji: Why would they, with all the resources the igbos are blessed with? |
APCer: 10:58am On Jun 10, 2017 |
Ddaji: that's what I have been telling those guys that are celebrating because Niger Delta wants it's oil blocs. they think we are like them who kill petty thieves but worship their thieving leaders. they think we would care if oil blocs leave the hand of our politicians. how does it affect the common man on the streets? |
