Until you live overseas and i don't mean just visiting or for holidays, i basically mean to reside completely....only then will you see and really understand the damage these internet fraudsters has done to us. Go to Instagram and see what yahoo boys are displaying and you expect regard from the foreigners.
Even when you excel academically or intellectually, the exploit is still looked into so much that you begin to wonder. Back in Med school topping the class meant a great deal, and whenever i or the other Nigerian girl did there was always some people who thought we cheated.

Also about the scammers, after the MMM era, then came that dead era. All sorts of ponxi schemes were opening up daily. Some would open up 6am in the morning and after successfully collecting an amount they feel comfortable with, just shut down before night sef and be gone.
These were nigerians doing this to each other. And those who participated did not care about the fact that they could be scammed, they would rush in and donate cash as soon as they hear of a new one so that they wiuld be among the first batch to be paid, as far as they weren't the ones the schemes closed down on then they were okay.
Looking back at it i realised that those ppl might say they are not scammers because they did not open or shut down the scheme, but they forget that they helped spread the scam fever. I can also say they were scammers cos they invited friends who came over and got scammed. These were all nigerians.

I do mot know what we can do to repair Nigeria's reputation if there is any left to even repair. The country is in a mess and we are the cause of it, that much is certain.

I've been vindicated again. And I am amazed that none of yall blaming scammers don't know that the American teach us how to scam.... Go online the whites no how to manipulate and they create different software to help in making scam easy. All the tools used by scammers are created by the whites. Guess what, majority of these schemes are opened by people who claim not to do ponzi schemes, yet the accepted the offer to do such a Job.

Some one who I told that I don't do ponzi scheme once invited me yo one e-cooperative stuff, and I ed without really understanding. The guy immediately told me after paying to go and get other people and collect their money to get mine back. Just imagine. I forfeited it.

This guy is not lying at all. While I lived in eastern Europe, I got to understand these things more. I met some guys who were internet scammers. All their Nigerian friends who lived there (and i mean all with the exception of none) were internet scammers too. Eventually one got arrested (he's probably still in jail now) and several others fled the country for fear of being arrested too. One ran to Ghana after he was caught withdrawing money from western union with fake documents. He was under strict investigation and fled the country using a fake port (which is another crime). Apparently he would create fake bank websites that are identical to the original websites. Imputing your credit card details in those websites would result in him getting all your information and subsequently he would "wire" out every penny you have. I also got to know that they did a lot of online shopping with stolen cards.

We shouldn't play the"racism card". The op is 100% correct. This op isn't exaggerating at all. Nigerians have also destroyed the reputation of Malaysia. A cyber cafe was busted in Lagos for habiting fraudsters and the locals all came out to the fraudsters.

We don't need to lie to ourselves, the op isn't saying that EVERY Nigerian is bad, he is simply saying that an overwhelming majority of us are bad and that is the gospel truth if we mean to be truthful to ourselves. Look around and you'll find that several of your colleagues steal office property when the opportunity arises.

Exactly. Its a very sad situation. Most of us youths use the poiliticians as excuse to commit crimes. Many times on NL when a thread is opened of the arrest of a robber or yahoo boy, the comments make me wonder if there is hope. Some will even say u are arresting him while u praise politicians. Yes its wrong to praise politicians and arrest the "common G boy", both should be arrested and locked up. But because the politician is not locked up does not mean the gboy has the right to run free and scam more. He should be arrested and serve his own punishment while we wait for the politician's turn to come.

Followed by Indians and Arabs.This group we call the big buyers. They buy high-end tools created by their antecedents for either retail or personal use. Sometimes they become proficient enough to create their own, but this is rare.

Then Western Europeans. Usually, they buy such tools for monetary gains and corporate espionage.

Why Nigerians find themselves mingled in such contraversy is because we are so loud.

Identity fraud is much bigger than Africa as a whole. Africans procure these identities from second hand sellers, not even the direct source.
