Electric cars ,hybrids and self driving cars, are currently receiving more attention than they have ever gotten in history. In the spotlight today is electric cars ,but how much do you really know about electric cars ? Lets find out some facts !. 1. Electric cars where invented before cars that use fuel or diesel. The first small scale electric car was invented in 1828,it wasn’t very efficient but it worked !. 2. The first crude electric vehicle ,that was regarded as the real deal was created in 1832 by English inventor Robert Anderson . 3. By 1901 to 1912 a third of all the cars on US roads where electric cars ,still not wowed ?,check the next one . 4. The average speed of electric vehicles at the time was about 14 miles per hour . 5. In 1901 Ferdinand Porsche, founder of the famous Porsche cars we know, created the Lohner-Porsche Mixte — the world’s first hybrid electric car. The vehicle was powered by electricity stored in a battery and a gas engine. 6. By 1935 all the electric vehicles seemed to disappear . Why ?, because Ford few years earlier finally built something faster ,with more horsepower and there was crude oil readily available in Texas and it was very cheap ! . 7. Nowadays,up to 80% of battery energy is directly transferred to power an electric car compared to up to 26% or as little as 14% of fuel-driven vehicles, making electric cars a highly efficient mode of transport. 8. As at the end of 2016 Nissan Leaf was and still is the most sold electric car of all time ,it would have been Chevrolet volt but it has a gas engine as well,so its a hybrid. Most likely Tesla might break this record when they make public their sales record for 2016 and 2017. 9. The fastest electric car in the world is the NIO EP9,created by a company called NextEv.Its top speed is 194 mph and it moves from 0 to 124 mph in 7.1 seconds .As if that is not enough it has 1,342 hp. 10. The electric car with the longest driving range is the Tesla Model S.It has a driving range of approximately 335 miles. At least it would take you about half way if you are driving to Kano from Lagos before recharging. ednut1: In theory, as long as you are not moving energy is not being consumed so it will be like a cell phone on standby, however the climate control nav and infotainment systems will be functioning so you will gradually take a power hit. |
