Yakubu's miss was far worse for the following reasons

1) It was in a world cup tournament. You can't compare to a premier league match

2) Had yakubu scored that goal, Nigeria would have advanced to the round of 16 instead of south korea

3) Ighalo played well yesterday besides the miss and watford went ahead to win the game

4) Ighalo was even given a standing ovation when he was substituted late in the game for his contribution

5) More importantly, yakubu missed an open net from 3 yards while ighalo missed from about 18 yards

However, while is goal.com fixated on ighalo's miss while not talk about the chances ibrahimovic gave up or how silly rooney was for the entire 90 minutes

You can't even begin to compare the two. Yakubu's own was so bad that from that angle you literally have to be aiming to play the ball out for you to miss like he did. But if you have ever played football you will understand what happened with Ighalo... first the ball was almost on the edge of the 18 yard box (whereas Yakubu is on the edge of the 6 yard box ); second, the ball takes a slight bounce for Ighalo, right before he hits it and that changes everything, so you have to have really good technique or at least be very composed to strike it first time from that distance. Anyone could miss that, even though it looks so easy when you are watching it from the couch.

Actually, it seems like he was focusing so much on the development of the play that he forgot the location of the post...if you have played you football you will understand how this may be possible. it happens but it's no excuse for a top player, especially one like Yakubu who has proven his caliber over and over again

With Ighalor chance, You have to take into consderation alot of factors, He technically wasnt well balanced to put it away.

you spoke my mind entirely, was very annoyed when I watched the ighalo miss for it to be compared to that of Yakubu, thought he floped the ball on the goal line.

Am very certain I may never witness a miss as terrible as that of Yakubu.

Ighalo's miss was a bad miss no doubt but Yakubu's is second to none. For me yakubu's is among top 5 of all time.

Yakubu miss is worse na. My grandma would easily put d ball into dat net. Rooney missed in similar fashion back in 2006.

This is not worse than F.Torres' miss,and players such as Kanu,F.Inzaghi has missed chances close to the goal post like that of Yakubu.
