First year was incredibly different from high school. It was stressful but extremely beautiful as well. Learnt so many things about myself -values, beliefs, stereotypes, strengths and weaknesses. I learnt to set goals and work toward them. I even made a blog post about it (its currently unavailable). I changed my lifestyle towards a more healthier one (still working on it though). Nursing is really stressful but every time I help patients in need, I am reminded why I want to be a nurse in the first place. I also took a lot of courses during my first year. I found a book by Arnold& Boggs really helpful ( too lazy to go get it ) but it was on interpersonal relationships. Nursing fundamentals and co. CC: barbiee , thearchangel Would you guys like to share the reasons why you became nurses? |

amly6:it was challenging at first, especially the first clinical rotation. Everyone will make you feel like you choose the wrong profession. What annoyed me most was the way nurses were being looked down on starting from the doctor, the patient and their relatives to even the charge nurses in the hospital. I learnt early that Nurses eat their young. I telling my mum that i don't want to be a nurse anymore but she encouraged me. Mumsi is a nurse too, it got better with time. I even got the Florence Nightingale Award ![]() ![]() The most important thing though is to believe in yourself, if nursing is what you are called to do then look it in the face and do it. 2 Likes 1 Share |
