Polytechnics were set up to provide man power and technical aspect in the industry, while university education was set up to provide policy, research and frame work in related fields. I might not be too sure but I think that's the aim. If they want both to be in same level then they have to update and upgrade the polytechnic syllabus.

[quote author=rattlesnake post=47845482]Can you dictenomy knowledge? nonsense low self esteem!!!!.....i pity HND holders [/quote

Bsc and HND are mere papers carried about by individuals. Pity yourself instead...... Both HND and Bsc has one enemy in common which is IGNORANCE. Let's tackle the enemy and not the papers. A HND holder today can as well acquire Bsc tomorrow.

There is no doubt that they do enough practical, buy the truth is that it can never be in the same level with university due to indepth research and studies in university level. Anyway, the government should study other developed countries on how they run their educational systems to be in tune with modern standards.

Op just provide credible source for this news, that's all I want.

To all of us!! Let it be known that your certificate is just a plain paper if you have nothing upstairs to offer. Your ability to deliver is what matters to the outside world not your paper. If you lack critical thinking and intelligence , then your certificate is as good as nothing to me.

If God willing I become an employer of labour today, I will care less about your A4 paper, my analysis of you will be based on your intelligence and your ability to work even under pressure and deliver, your ability to accept any form of challenge and provide a means to deliver, to create your own ideas outside the instructions you are given and achieve a better results. That's all I will care about and I think that is what employers of labour now should be looking out for in candidates. Not your empty cert. The important thing is the education you acquired which is more than enough to build on your intelligence.

The purpose of establishment polytechnic is quite different from that of the university. However, they are both tertiary institutions so I see no reason for d discrimination. If u through the polytechnic to study a technological or engineering course, u will appreciate d polytechnic system of education because it makes u vast in reasoning. I can tell u I graduated from a polytechnic and where ever I found myself today I do so well even better than most so called university graduates. That's not to say that there are no low quality polytechnic graduates though. My point is this, as a polytechnic or university graduate/student, ensure u have substance in your head to defend d paper that's much important to Nigerian employers that you carry about (certificate). For our govt, I think the earlier they make d policy to equate both graduates d better. Poly produces technologist while Uni produces engineers. They perform different functions to complete a manufacturing process. I had to research, design and fabricate a post harvest processing machine to earn my certificate . so it is wrong for anyone to rundown a polytechnic graduate for whatever reason
