In an apparent reference to the Niger Delta militants and other such groups, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) said on Sunday that the Federal Government would not dialogue with criminals in finding solutions to the renewed crisis in the Niger Delta region. The militant group, though no longer employing violence in its agitation this time, confirmed President Muhammadu Buhari’s claim that the Federal Government was actually dialoguing with Niger Delta militants through the oil companies and law enforcement agents. According to a statement signed by its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, MEND declared: “The Federal Government made it clear during our meetings that a negotiation with criminals is out of the question. “The Niger Delta Avengers, internet-based ‘militant’ groups such as t Revolutionary Council, Ultimate Warriors etc., an Ijaw opportunistic tribal assembly, which were compromised to keep silent during the six (6) years of Goodluck Jonathan’s misrule and neglect, pirates, pipeline vandals, oil thieves, commercial kidnappers, waterway robbers, political thugs and miscreants all fall under this category”, it added. MEND said emphatically that it had been holding talks with the Federal Government through the oil companies and the security agencies thus confirming the position of President Muhammadu Buhari that government was talking to militants in the region. “The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) wishes to confirm that indeed it has been in preliminary talks with the Federal Government through oil companies and law-enforcement agencies as revealed by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, July 21, 2016. “These preliminary talks are the precursor to a wider dialogue between the Federal Government and the MEND Aaron 2 peace initiative, which will seek to find solutions to the short, medium and long-term future of the Niger Delta region”, it added. Niger Delta Avengers, which is the reigning violent militant group in the region had, over the weekend, denied President Buhari’s position that government was discussing with militants. source....http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/07/24/mend-confirms-talks-with-fg-says-discussions-not-with-criminals-but-militants/ |

I the ostracisation of the NDA and other criminal groups destroying installations. Govt must not dialogue with criminals under any circumstance. Continue to arrest them like dogs one after another. Worse come to worse govt shud use MEND to flush out the terrorist if they prove obstinate.

Waste of time. The voice of South South Nigeria is now the NDA, any other organisation purporting to speak for the ND is as fake as a Buhari smile. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Federal Government, it's very simple, apply the divide and rule principle, infiltrate them and keep them divided still. Some people will tell me the militants are fighting for their people but will fail to explain how Tompolo had 37 billion naira in his , how Asari managed to establish a sport Academy and university in Benin Republic, how Boyloaf and other militants became billionaires over night. NDA are nothing but bunch of criminals. 1 Like |

omenka:This is definitely a wrong move. The government shouldn't have initiated any silly negotiation move with this criminals/militants. What's the use of all the police, army, navy and other security agencies? I don't just know why Nigeria as a nation never learn anything from it's . The country keep repeating the same mistakes. |

What can be more cowarding than the so called suffercated first class citizens always comparing themselves with fifth class citizens? What has the suffercated first class citizens achieved with all their bragados? Even if the fifth class citizens are hiding under NDA or ing NDA or whatever, the important thing is that fifth class citizen want the zoo destroyed.. But what can be more surprising than the so called first class citizens not wanting to separate themselves from the hateful fifth class citizens? And what can be more silly than the first class citizens thinking that fifth class citizen will love and cherish them? Why can't the first class citizens take the suffercation and go, and the fifth class citizens take their hatred and go? Isn't it so simple? 1 Like |
