Based on my knowledge of pharmacology,the drug of choice for staphylococcu aureus infections is methicillin.in a case whereby the organism is resistant we use Vancomycin,which is given intravenously.

No wonder, methicillin and Vancomycin used to be the first line drug for Staphylococcus spp but dese days both drugs have been stopped cos dey (Staph), is now resistant to both drugs and it's difficult to treat both methicillin and Vancomycin resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Thanks for the lecture,well i'm not praticing yet i'm still in my fifth year so i wouldnt know all these.i've heard of vancomycin resistant staph aureus(VRSA) though.So we use the fluoroquinolones for VRSA?

My brother that is subject to research. But an antibiogram gvs u a broader picture of what antibiotic can eradicate the organism.

Often times ppl believe anything Staphylococcus is S. aureus thus no clear distinction between the pathogenic from non pathogenic Staphylococcus

In as much as this sounds funny, it may interest you that Staphylococcus is not a harmful pathogen on the skin (left arm inclusive). Except you mean it's causing something else like a foci of infection on your left arm (like boil) but as far as Staphylococcus is concerned it can't harm you by being on the skin of your left arm.

Do you know u have over a zillion copy of staphylococcus inside your nose too. That's their chill out spot

By the way not every Staphylococcus is aureus neither are all pathogenic to human.

Specialist and Medical Doctors in the House, please be very honest, I understand the idea of protecting ones Profession and Ethics, but I think honesty is very Important as well, I think diplomacy does not key in this issue. Naked truth is needed. I do not want to Mention any Hospital here, the Hospitals are Specialist Hospitals, 1 in Abuja, 2 in Lagos and 1 in kwara state. They are big Hospitals with modern technology, Specialist and equipped Diagnostic Laboratory, note that there charges are very expensive, I am not A Doctor, I felt sick with some Symptoms, normally I visited one of the Hospitals, the consultation itself is outrageous, I do not Care, all I wanted is good Health. Note that, Typhoid and Malaria Parasite were treated before yet my symptoms remained, a Test was Suggested, when the results came out I was given some Antibiotics, in a nutshell i was given a specialist and absolute professional treatment, all advices are strictly adheres to, the Symptoms remains, I went back to complain, a more powerful Antibiotics was prescribed, same on and on, I keep paying bills, my work then takes me to other states, I became tired of the Lagos Hospital after spending so much, I tried the other 3 Hospitals, its same story, they are not quacks, they are not Alternative medicine, they are not food supplements, they are medical doctors. 1. Staph could be resistant to antibiotics but not to "All Antibiotics"
2. My OND project was "Anti-bacterial Properties of Honey"
my conclusion was that; Honey can inhibits growths of pathogenic bacteria includind stap spp.
3. The problem is timing; you don't use antibiotics like other pills or just for pills sake.
E.g Antibiotics are
best used without foods or when starving and each dose has to be timed and monitored.
4. You go back to the lab for "m/c/s" and let the lab scientist give you the appopirate antibiotics and you use it accordingly else your staph remains.
or you get pure honey and cyprofloxacin tab/ Levaquine tab/ Vancomycin (intravenous).
5. I woulda loved to treat you for free but i'm not practising and indisposed.
I'm a microbiologist tho.
