It is only in yoruba land that we see something like Emir of Ilorin instead of oba.....I don't think Afonja is resting in peace for such enslavement.

there is no village in kwara that speak hausa language, any kwara that speak Hausa must have been to the north. apart from Yoruba others are nupe, bariba. nupe own edu and patigi while the bariba are in kiama and baruten. hausa own no community in kwara

From my knowledge about this things, it isn't culture that changed the kwaras,it is religion, both Islam and Christianity.

the esie soap sculpture museum is still in kwara state,
www.vanguardngr.com/2012/01/esie-stone-images-in-igbomina/

and a host of other Yoruba practices,
and yes kwarans practice and acts Yoruba with no atom of Hausa, maybe a few though but not the majority.

Exactly, you are on point, its quite a pity that the Yoruba in Kwara have been lost , I hope the language won't be lost.

all what has changed in kwara was based on religion and not culture, that is why ilorin indigenous musician still sing with Yoruba but they prefer Islamic. all is pure Islamic and not Hausa. emir is just the leader of emirates in islam and not Hausa

I don't think Fayose can experience this. He seems to enjoy the fierce of his people that defies any rational explanation. It is easier for an elephant to fly than for this to happen to Fayose.
Fayose didn't enjoy half of love n popularity that Saraki enjoyed in Kwara. So what r u saying?

Hmmm....this is how to demand for ability and good governance. Meanwhile the other parts of Nigeria whose leaders have stolen them and their unborn children to penury and environmental destruction like massive gully erosion, separatism, seaport in Enugu airport, bombing and destruction of investments and pipelines in their region are busy ing the same leaders who have led them into the abyss of irrelevance and self destruction. Keep ing Ekeremandu, Dasuki, Metuh, Saraki and the new president of beerfraud Igwe Fayose, the man who will lead Ibos to prosperity in their utopian country and put people like Ojukwu who ran away to Abidjan to shame.
just as ur Buhari,in less than 1 yr,has seen to the increament of fuel, kerosine, every foodstuff, even small stuffs like soap,pen,t-fair,candle,book,razor etc no light, not even a kilometer road constructed.Pls say the truth, both gej n buhari's regims are BAAAAAD.lol

These people are local govt workers and were protesting over non payment of salaries. Constitutionally, it is the duty of local councils to pay them as the state govt also caters for the salary obligations of its workers. Despite this, the Kwara state government under Gov. Ahmed is making frantic efforts to ensure the problem is resolved. The State govt is proposing to take over funding of Junior secondary education from the Local governments. This will be reduce the financial burden of the LGs.

We should understand that the salary crises is not peculiar to Kwara only, it affects almost every state in the country. Few days ago, local govt workers in Edo State protested over nonpayment of their 17month salaries. In Nassarawa, workers are still on strike and the governor has told them to accept 50 per cent cut in their salaries. In ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Delta, Plateau, Kogi, Niger, Oyo, etc, the salary situation is almost the same.

There is a need for the national and state govts to take measures to revive our economy, else, the salary problems will persist. The sad reality is that no amount of demonstrations or protest by workers will solve the problem. It is time government at all levels think for ways to improve the economy.

This is my humble opinion. You're entitled to yours as well.

Kwarans are really angry the governor is owing the local government staffs 6 months salary.

I ed a day to sallah during the pre eid lecture at emir palace, when one imam was praising the governor and saraki. People just started throwing tantrums and everything scatter. It took the help of police that escorted the emir and the imam out of the place.

This is the case of an hungry man is an angry man.
Without prejudice to the right of people to express displeasure at their leaders, the Governor is not responsible for the payment of LG staff salaries.

I think the same thing is happening in Anambra with Obiano paying for the cows killed by his illiterate constituents, Ugwuanyi of Enugu fasting for the Fulani and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi begging them to stay.

I schooled with the grandson of the late Oba of Lagos, the present Emir of Ilorin, the son of the Oba of Efon Alaaye and other royals. We all spoke Yoruba when we were not speaking English. The Gambari guy couldn't speak a complete sentence in Hausa or Fulani even to the Hausa and Fulani guys in school.

I think this goes to show who is what.
