Saturday June 18, 2016 More Than Compliments -ROMANS 16:1-16 Key Verse: "Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus" (Romans 16:3). Often, we neglect or undermine the powerful effect of simple compliments. Learning to say "hello" or "how do you do?" and having others say that to us has a way of bonding us to them, showing that someone at the least cares for us. Though it may appear just ordinary and commonplace, the effect becomes strong when it is withdrawn. Think about living in a community or working among a group of people where there is no such exchange of compliments. No doubt, the feeling of loneliness such would bring can be imagined. Interaction and relationship in such environment will often be frictional. To enhance peaceful coexistence and promote harmony, we cannot neglect this simple and ordinary practice of exchanging greetings and complimenting one another. Apostle Paul demonstrated this very well in his ministry and epistles. Particularly, he singled out individuals (whom he had met in one way or the other and had had an influence and impact on his life) for special recognition and greetings. He also instructed the Christians in the Roman church not to neglect doing this. True Christianity does not isolate us from the rest of the people, nor does it make us uncivil. We don't cease to be humans robbed of all natural human feelings because we have become born-again. So, it will be entirely wrong to become so withdrawn from the society where we live and refuse to interact in the smallest way as to exchange greetings with neighbours and work fellows. It is even ridiculous to observe some Christians who are too sanctimonious to acknowledge the greetings of others in fellowship talk more of reaching out to greet others. Courtesy and Christianity are not aliens - they agree together. Mutual salutations express, increase, strengthens love and endear Christians one to another Thought for the day: True religion when rightly received will not make any man uncivil. Funny just last week a road side mechanic told a friend he could not fix a fault with his car(the model is rare) cause he did not want to get something else go wrong. And I really appreciated his honesty to my friend.

Roadside mechanic all the way, took my bluetec SUV benz to a benz garrage, after 1 week, although they claim to be computerized and technologicalised could not detect the fault. After biling me 30k. My brother took the car to a road side mechanic along Enugu Onitsha express way the car was repaired in less thar 3 hours for just 5k i was so Glad i gave the guy extra 10k in appreciation of his Good handi work and dedication, unlike the obnoxious overhyped Benz garage, he was overjoyed and very thankfull. The road side mechanic diagnosed petrol mixed with kerosine in a simple word BAD and cheap roadside PETROL. Tiri gbosaaaa! For some road side mechanic. And oh! I almost forgot he also had the priviledge and i was Very Glad to let him test drive my 2015 Bluetec mercedec Benz SUV. ![]() 5 Likes 1 Share |

I think there is an unfair bias towards the 'kazeems.' Whilst true that the majority of them learn via trial and error, this is usually with cars that are not common in this part of the world. They have a rigorous training system which also allows them to lean on their mentors experience. They also tend to hive together so that problems are solved in a group. Their problems usually occur when they go beyond their knowledge to troubleshoot systems they have no idea of. I had an experience whereby a simple but hidden leak in my car was causing overheating. The roadside guy struggled with it for 3 months and within that time caused a few hassles but was able to get the car working without spoiling the engine or blowing a gasket. In fact, after 'fixing' my car, he then went ahead to label himself an expert in that brand. I then took the car to the OEM (on Bank Anthony way) who did their OEM things (All changes were on spec) and my gaskets burned in a week. C'est la vie.

Rafiu any Day. Had a problem that I was billed 78k by one of all these techy places. I was going to pay when the dude with me said he has a guy. This guy was a complete illiterate But he drove the car and billed me 15k. I said he should go and fix it and come back. He was gone for 40mins and came back problem vanished. I didn't beleive it, I entered express with the car nothing. Anyway paid him his money and the guy who hooked us up obtained him 2k. It's all about the costs. That's the truth. Meanwhile imagine if he drew that donkey on my back instead of the winged horse. 1 Like |

mathematics, the mother of all physics sef s trial and error. the cost of acquiring automated system no be here at al, the charges sef na die, our phone prof go just dey yarn grammar for class, how many sabi diagnose automated mechanical fault, talk more of repairs, I sure sey some of dem no fit direct their drivers on procedures to change engine oil, if our teachers are this useless(apologies), how do we expect the industry to grow? abeg leave kazeem alone, most times, their problem is a function of greed which is in every human, when faced with an unknown problem, the faithful ones consult their fellow mechanic/technician, or even invite them to come over, they both check to see if the invited one is familiar with the problem. I know of a kazeem that once helped a one time unilorin vc resurrect* his car, he was so fed up with the car that the kazeem had to stake his personal fund in the repair just to prove a point, that repair won him a car, cash and connections. *kazeem travelled from lagos to ilorin just because of the car from his pocket. 1 Like 1 Share |

Once my mechanic hears the sound of my car engine, he already knows the problem. I don't know how he does it but it always works. Sherrif is good.

The more reason why car owners shd take the initiative to own a diagnostic scan tool. There are simple inexpensive units that any car owner can buy and use. In the western world, most car owners own one of such. You dont have to get your hands dirty, but at least you can learn to run a diagnosis on your car to know if and when faults do come up, rather than being in the dark and giving your mechanic the power to take advantage of your ignorance, or paying ridiculous amts to run simple diagnosis at car service centres, that you could well do yourself...i'm a player in that market, a unit sells for as low as 20k, and it was even much lower but for the FOREX constraint. How much is that to invest in a car you bought with good money? And would learning how to use such a simple and helpful device be so bad? Mind you when you have a bad experience with one 'Hakeem', you would know better than to applaud someone going into a surgery blind!
