I never downgraded Calabar. The issue I raised was simply how FG's neglect killed Donald Dukes costly investments. No road to Calabar from every part of Nigeria. As at 2009 the roads were motorable and people trooped into Calabar more. I stopped going to Calabar because of the roads. I have always loved the city which of course is the most beautiful in the East but the truth is that its dying and if nothing is done about the link roads then it will die completely. The bad Umuapu road affected influx of tourists like me from Port Harcourt to Owerri.

Owerri took advantage of its strategic location and easy accessibility to steal the show. The rich tourists in the East come from Port Harcourt, Delta, Bayelsa, Onitsha and Aba. Today Aba people stop at Ibom resort and Uyo then turn back without ing Itam.

U are now talking connecting road as if the road connecting owerri to rivers state is not worse.

Rochas has tried in Orlu, you can't expect him to leave owerri and invest Imo resources in a small town like Orlu. Now Orlu is better and finer than all the towns in Nigeria that are in same status with it.

Rochas has attracted many development in Orlu more than other previous governors. He attracted many higher institutions to Orlu, like the school of Health technology, upgrading of TESAC facilities to polytechnic status, and the newly constructed Imo-american university which you and your fellows termed private university and also criticised him on that .

For those of us who have had the privilege of staying in both Calabar and Owerri we can gladly say that we're proud of the achievements of both cities so far. Both towns are unique for their stunning ability to tie their major IGR to tourism even when other neighbouring states rely on oil for survival.
Calabar: may have dwindled in influence these past years as a result of bad interstate roads, oil wells revocation, less influx of tourists into the state and the decline of Tinapa, yet the city still holds the enviable record as the number 1 tourist state in Nigeria.
The state is blessed with fascinating mountains and plateaus as well as a close access to the sea. The paradise state as it is called still performs it's annual Calabar carnival as well as hosting the magnificent Obudu cattle ranch and other astonishing wonders of nature. Once the state government corrects some of the listed drawbacks, revive the Obudu mountain race and other activities, Calabar will be no stopping in tourism.

Look at how empty Obudu and TINAPA look. The arguments are unnecessary as no one has argued about the billions of Dollars invested by Donald Duke Government but the problem is low patronage. In as much as Owerri has better and higher budget Hotels than Calabar(Metropolitan is not up to Concorde or Rockview) Calabar has more natural and artificial tourist attractions. However the god of tourism seems to have favored Owerri in patronage.
