Apart frm holiness, fasting will show u instant between rich and indigent. so that if someone ask u to help him or her on meal basis, tru fasting u will know what hungry is. In fact to our health fasting play a crucial role. Its a lie dat fasting add to weight, fasting reduces weight during d period of fasting all organs work perfectly. To be sincere check ur body during month of fast compare to the other month. Some people cant afford to take fruit in a whole year except fasting period.

Muslims can't do the christian kind of fasting. I have gone three days straight without water, without food. Several times. 72hrs, 24hrs from 12am to 12am round the clock, over and over.

Yes, christains Fast to mortify the flesh to give life to their spirit. To enable them be more spiritual than pysical. Our God is a Spirit, so to have free communion with him we fast. We fast with a motive, we just don't fast.
I don't know why the Muslims fast. But I know why christians fast. Isa. 58: 4-14, and an where a demon possessed child was brought to the Apostles in the absence of Christ, but the apostles tried and tried, they couldn't cast the demon out till Jesus came. Jesus commanded the demon to go away and the demon left. The Aposlts asked Jesus why they couldn't cast the demon out. What did Jesus say? "This kind goeth not out, except by fasting and prayers.
Fasting empowers the christians spiritually to confront satan and his agents. What does it do for Muslims?

2. In christian fast, food is not an issue, you can break by 6pm with anything, in Muslim fast, breaking is like a feast, they eat all the food they haven't eaten since morning

3. In christian fast, you wake up in the morning and fasting has commenced, in Muslim fast, you wake up very early to cook and eat heavy meal before the fasting commences
