"If education is expensive, try ignorance," is a quote that is supposed to discourage people from grumbling at the amount a few schools charge to formally educate children. But how much is too much? We can agree that the educational standard in Nigeria is pretty poor, and due to this, various private schools are springing up, promising international-standard education. The only caveat is that it will cost you, and cost you millions.

Here are the 10 Most Expensive Secondary Schools In Nigeria

10. Loyala Jesuit, Abuja: School Fees: N2.8 million

Located in Gidan Mangoro, Abuja, this private boarding school was established in 1996. The teaching and supervision is done by the of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). The school is very selective when it comes to itting students and each student pay a fee of about N2, 800, 000.

9. Meadow Hall, Lagos: School Fees: N3 million.

This is one of the most expensive schools in Lagos. It was founded by Mrs. Kehinde Nwani in 2002. The school's main objective is to focus on developing every child's talents and make sure the students reach their highest potential.

8. Greensprings School, Lagos: School Fees: N3.185 million

Also located in Lagos, Greensprings Schools pride themselves in the fact that they are accredited by The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), an agency aimed at improving the quality of schools around the world.

7. Whiteplains British School, Abuja: School Fees: N3.6 million

This boarding school aims to incorporate the British National Curriculum while also introducing the inquiry based approach of teaching and learning as expounded by Edexcel and Cambridge accreditation. The fees amount to as much as N3.6 million per annum.

6. Day Waterman College, Abeokuta: School Fees: N3.7 million

This school has not been accorded as much attention as it should. Perhaps, this is due to the fact that it is located in Ogun state, a region not many people will automatically look at when thinking about extremely expensive schools. But they certainly are worth a second look as being on this list means they offer something special.

5. Lekki British International School, Lagos: School Fees: N4 million

This school was established in 2000. It is the premiere British school in Nigeria. Each student pays as much as N4, 000, 300 per session for tuition and this also includes feeding, school uniforms, hostels, Sunday wears and textbooks.

4. American International School, Abuja: School Fees: N4.3 million

This American-accredited international school was founded in 1993. It reportedly boasts of over 30 nationalities represented in the school students' population. Interestingly, the school only has about 500 students from Pre-school to Grade 12.

3. British International School, Lagos: School Fees: N4.48 million

Located in Victoria Island, Lagos, British International School was established in September 2001. It boasts of such facilities as a multi-purpose hall, music suites, theatre, computer suites, science suites, tutorial rooms, swimming pool and more. Majority of the students are foreigners.

2. Grange High School, Lagos: School Fees: N4.5 million

This is the second most expensive school in Nigeria. The school is one of the only three to be accredited by the UK's Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS).

Who is saying waste of money?... U don't know what u r saying... Do u want to say most parents sending their children to school abroad are not paying more than this?.... Many of these children are from very rich parents.
I don't know about other schools but of greenspring I know. After being a graduate, u r automatically itted to a university abroad.. No stress just d money... How many do u see roaming the streets looking for jobs after being a graduate?... There are big plans for these kids... Forget about d money,if u have it u will pay it... Or if r u worth a billion naira or more, u will send your kids to public school just because u want them to be smart or u want them to be rugged?... The child will curse u.
U have the money spend it!
