Upgrading from an uned version is not recommended usually, because too many things can go wrong. It's better and easier to back up your home folder and do a clean install. That said, if you really insist on upgrading from 12.10 you can check this link if you can figure thing out

The most recent LTS version is 14.04, it will be valid till 2019. Funny enough, if you had installed 12.04 it would still be valid till 2017, but my recommendation would be 14.04

a friend asked me to turn his chromebook 2 windows.. i have succeeded with some but dis one was a pain in d ass..dis chromebook has bin idle 4 months....since windows 8.1 on it was crappy... no audio, touchpad problems, video drivers and a lot more..

wat more could i use it 4.. chromeos sucks... ... decided to turn it in2 a linux machine.. just installed ubuntu xfce using croutun.. testing chrome and some terminal stuffs

to back up your home partition or if you created a separate one you could format the rest and leave it out during install.

Yes I've already backed it up on my windows using dejadup on Ubuntu . But my fear is will it restore normally?

Sorry if you have done fresh install but next time you don't have to if you have access to a strong and excessive wifi. The latest LTS for ubuntu is 15.04 called vivid. Next release is due to be released in october.

The downside in upgrade is that you can only upgrade from one release to the immediate next and not in any other way. For instance from 14.10 to 15.04 and not from 14.04 to 15.04. Got it? Now you understand why I said you need abundant wifi for successive upgrades.

$sudo apt-get update
$sudo apt-get upgrade #optional tho
$sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
$sudo do-release-upgrade
$sudo reboot

Yeah that's was me Esquire, Bigbrovar and Adewale Afolabi etc. I don't know it still exist, that was when the in here started acting up. You right Muyi those were the time. A guy was bragging today bout Nairaland and I had to show him I was here when it was cool so he could shut up. Took me a while to figure out his question as I thought he merely wanted to connect into the WiFi network,. He actually needed to into the network after using IwConfig to .


So I ed the small utility called w3m.

Yeah u can browse in a terminal. It does http 1.0
Funny how I never used to this. U Really need to save data and just want to read text, why not...

It's why we use Linux. It's why we chose freedom


Run sudo apt-get install w3m w3m-img

To open a webpage just run 'w3m url'
