Three Arguments For God's Existence (106445 Views)
Re: Three Arguments For God's Existence by Nobody: 7:51pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
davien: you spend too much time asking questions about the scientific validity of ID... but when called on to discuss the alternative perspective, you label it a stupi.d question. The notion that things designed will be automatically correct is false... that is an excuse that anti-ID proponents have used for so long. Its like saying that because brilliant engineers designed a car, it must never have a fault and a flawed brake pad is evidence that the car must have evolved on its own. What tests are done to validate the ID theory? Plenty... has it ever occurred to you how it is possible to carry the genetic code of an entire human in a cell the size of a pin prick or smaller? Has it occurred to you how it is that the DNA comes replete with intricate repair mechanisms that ensure that mutations that could essentially kill you are removed almost within seconds of them occurring? Asking what an undesigned object would be like is also plainly ridiculous... might as well ask an engineer what a magical car would be like... would it come with wheels? 2 Likes |

davien: Because you have this conceived idea of life creations are not designed , thats why you are asking 1, 2 and 3 . Are there tests to run to attest that cars , buildings are intellectual designs ? ![]() Explanation of God : If I should ask you , what only condition fails the infinite regression argument ![]() 1 Like |

@davidylan pls read the wikipedia page on intelligent design and g8ve me your thoughts on it. Pls its just an honest request, your thoughts on d article is all I need.

anicheibo: Last i checked, wikipedia was not an approved scientific textbook in any serious school. You are aware that wikipedia can be written and edited by anyone right? That you can create a page on intelligent design and write whatever you wish and that it is not a peer-reviewed piece of scientific literature right? I mean i am troubled by the really poor quality of science here to be honest... if wikipedia is your authority then its a wonder we keep getting this type of circuitous logic. |
davien(m): 8:02pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
davidylan:Yes it is.. How does carrying human DNA in a tube or pin prick imply DNA is intelligently designed?... We recognise things that are designed from contrasting undesigned objects.....can you put a car and a sand dune under "intelligent design" ![]() |

anicheibo: I'm not sure but what part of my thoughts on the article did you not get? Wikipedia is not an authoritative source, its as good as having Davien write a treatise on proteins and asking me to comment on it. Waste of my time... |
Re: Three Arguments For God's Existence by Nobody: 8:12pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
davien: So you recognize a car was created by contrasting it with what? A horse? Your laughably simplistic responses are cracking me up here bro. |

davien: Its funny how atheists laugh at cars popping out of the ground but have no problem believing (by blind faith of course) that the more complex human who designed that car simply popped out of the ground. 1 Like 1 Share |

davidylan:Simplicity does not imply folly....and it's contrasted on grounds of naturally occurring....comparison is just another method....either-way it's the way humans classify things....is taxonomy not about contrasting features of organisms to differentiate them....it's simplistic and it works....not like the untestable "all things are designed" assertions ID'ers make ![]() |

Intelligent design is rubbish. Why not just continue and claim that rain is the result of God weeping for humanity? God of the gaps. I think some people here should have a discussion with real scientists. The universe you see is a cocktail of many natural mechanisms that make it work. I believe in God but that doesn't grant me the luxury of believing in pseudo-science. 2 Likes |

Re: Three Arguments For God's Existence by Nobody: 8:30pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
anicheibo: Not really. i keep asking for the science behind your claims that we simply evolved out of nothing and on this planet along... which makes up an inconsequential portion of the universe. "god of the gaps" may not be a valid argument... "science is still researching" isnt one either... and "just because i say so" is even worse. |
Re: Three Arguments For God's Existence by Nobody: 8:31pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
davien: Based on? He did not pose a single scientific argument to buttress his point. You simply agree with him because he agrees with you. That is quite weak. |

KingEbukasBlog:Note that a belief in a god does not imply intelligent design claims that all things are designed...god could have simply ignited the spark and let natural processes take over i.e a deistic god ... |
Re: Three Arguments For God's Existence by Nobody: 8:33pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
davien: as usual, when you cant deal with the science - turn to false humor and mockery to cover the yawning intellectual deficit. The bible is neither the topic of discussion neither has it indicated that it is founded on rational science. It is called a faith for a reason. |

AllNaijaBlogger: 1. I am actually a scientist and have actually done many of the experiments cited here... which is why i laughed when davien claimed that proteins were the building blocks of life. We buy proteins off the shelf all the time, without DNA you do not have a viable cell even if you dumped all the protein you can get into it. But of course, that is the caliber of "scientists" here that we have to deal with. 2. To say the universe is a cocktail of natural mechanisms belies the point - so why is life seeded on earth only but not, say Mars? 3. I believe in God, i believe in science - infact that is my profession, however i dont believe in pseudo-science (which is basically all i have read here from the likes of davien and others). |
davien(m): 8:38pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
davidylan:Contrasting and differentiating objects is how we understand the world....you claimed simplistic notions like this are funny...yet you're ahem allegedly a biologist who must have contrasted and differentiated a myriad of things... |
Re: Three Arguments For God's Existence by Nobody: 8:38pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
davien: I have barely mentioned God here at all so it seems you are speaking brainlessly. I am simply asking that you provide the science that validates your position, while trying not to make vapid claims like proteins as the building blocks of life. |
Re: Three Arguments For God's Existence by Nobody: 8:40pm On Jul 12, 2015 |
davien: I didnt say compare and contrast is simplistic... i simply asked you a question - if you believe that a car cannot just pop out of the ground then on what basis do you say a more complex human can? You sidestepped this by laughing at the Adam and Eve strawman you created. shame. |
