My people, i so appreciate the fact that you guys know and you are willing to share what you know. I hold in no light esteem the good that all the information i read on this tread has done to me, in of reawakening my zest and ion for the learning. But my plights are these: I'll be 28 later this year, I ve a B.Sc in Economics from the University of Jos, with a 2.2 grade. Actually, I was the best amongst the worse and the worse of the best. thats becos i had a GPA of 3.49 (you know how marginal that is). Am an AAT holder, I had a brief lecturing experience with an ICAN tutorial centre. a professional student of the ICAN, final stage with just SFM paper to go. I am a pro in SPSS, Excel and Peachtree and I do very well at my Job.I wrote several undergraduate projects for my colleagues while i was in school and many of them landed no grade less than a "B", I understand research and project writing very well, simply put. I work with a financial consulting firm, i earn a gross of 100k monthly. I fend for me (in all its ramifications) and need to drop some for my parents who did a lot to see me through school. I have a ion for research and ultimately lecturing. I'll like to further as early as possible and if possible study outside Nigeria. ing exams is not my problem, If i read, i'll . My girl friend is 26 an ing graduate with a strong 2.1 from same school. She is currently serving. She is pressing for us to settle down immediately after her service year (probably because we have been dating for about 3 years now and the clock is ticking). My people, with a 2.2, no financial backing whatsoever and responsibilities beckoning daily. Please, how do I go about studying abroad, achieving my dream of being who i really want to be. What can I do to be better with the little resource and opportunity before me. Please i really need as much advise as i can get because am begining to loose it in bits.

Thanks.

Hello,

I stumbled on one postgraduate programme in Economics and even asked one or two people to apply. They did and got itted, receiving 80% scholarship. One of them had 2:2. Painful that this programme's deadline ed two months ago. Do me an email next year let's take it from there.

Meanwhile, try these below. Hope your luck shines.

Courses for postgraduate studies are in their hundreds and you'd have to be specific about the specific postgraduate course you hope to do.

Ola, opportunities are looking at you. Quickly take advantage of them and let's see what happens. Your luck can shine. These are not online master's, you didn't ask for such. They're full time programmes in Economics. Take some time and go through the programmes, then apply.

To get these things, one must get ready to investment time, patience and energy. Omo, it's not gbam like that.

Searching for scholarship online is good. But you'll have to apply far and wide. To search, begin by visiting the sites of schools and specifically the programme you want to do. How to do this? Look for a country where you'd like to study, go to wikipedia and get the names of all universities in that country. Then visit each school's website and search for your course of interest. Do that for all schools in the country. Then repeat the same exercise for all of the countries that you'd like to study. Put down all your discoveries/findings somewhere. By the time you're done, you'll have more than enough information to help you and others.

Good luck

I agree that economists might command a relatively low salary but Mhen, it all depends where you work with your economics degree. I do investment research. Investment researchers in US ibanks generally earn $100k, say with up to 4 years experience, and more than $100 with more than 4 years experience. In some of these banks, economics researchers earn as much..However, economics researchers on the same level at many think-tanks do not come even close, and I would guess that there're more economists in places where salaries are just okay..This ultimately brings down the average compensation for economists - which is why you see the low pay for economists. Industry matters.

Good luck with that. People I know who do online master's are busy working professionals who have got no time to attend live university.

No I don't. Someone/persons I know who have done it were already in full time jobs before embarking on it.

Hi T22,

I graduated in Biochemistry four (4) years ago. Graded as the best student with a 4.4 GP.

I have been trying to get a scholarship in MSc Bioinformatics (Glasgow, Scotland). It seems not to be forthcoming.

Currently, I am willing to try any Scholarship in any field of Biochemistry in any school in the world.

Kindly assist with information and mentorship.

Best regards.

Put less emphasis on UK schools. They hardly fund master's.

Send me an email let's discuss there.

Pato is just a chestbeater. If you will gladly undermine any thesis made out of Nigeria, pls lets see any of your publications. Lets see how much depths they have. Never did T22 argue any of your point with you. He has his reasons. Quality was never part of his contentions. I don't know why you are hypertensive over it. At least he is being of help to pple. Be of help too n stop being a whimp

Engineering, wow, US schools will rush you. Gender equality is a lie in some respects. But you must at least have above average qualifications. Where're you looking at?

Yeah, I know MSc in structures. German schools will be good for you - high quality, no tuition..But you will need like 1.8milla in your (in fact transferred to a German in your name) to cover living expenses before you're issued visa. You've this bar?
tobloj(m): 12:44am On May 21, 2015
Yes sir. 1.8 mil is much but I think it's a price am willing to pay. In as much my G.P of 2.8 doesn't come in the way.

Do Schools in Nigeria consider Msc grade while employing someone as a lecturer, if the person is applying with Msc degree? I finished with 3.01 in my Msc (Economics), which is below the requirement for ission into PhD programme in almost all Nigerian Federal universities . However, I am considering taking up an Assistant Lecturing Job before proceeding to Mphil/PhD. Will my Msc grade affect my chances of getting the job?
trendygirl: 7:41pm On Jun 05, 2015
Well presently I'm looking at Purdue University
And ofcourse I have above the required qualification for phd
