Death is Nothing at All Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you. For an interval. Somewhere. Very near. Just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ. Henry Scott Holland : 1847-1918 1 Like |

There's a death every man needs to die, i.e death to your old self and resurrection to the new life by the salvation of Jesus Christ.

When man dies, the flesh rots in the grave. The spirit is inanimate and it is not flesh The spirit goes back to its maker-God The spirit is judged. He either goes to hell or heaven. How does the spirit which is inanimate, can't suffer nor enjoy, feel the reward or punishment He is supposed to expirience Is it the spirit that will get the reward or a new body will be formed to experience eternity Pls I need clear answers to these pastor......., 1 Like |

tundysho: first of all, the spirit of a man is not inanimate, for a thing to be inanimate means there is no life it whereas the spirit of a man is what gives life to the physical man. Spirit can feel all manner of emotion, spiris are a 100x more real than the flesh state. When a man dies, the spirit exit the body leaving that body in a painless, motionless and an "emotionless" state. That state is referred to as been dead, u can inflict all sort of pain on the body but the deadness disallow the pain becos of the absence of the spirit. Also you will agree with me that the angles in heaven are all spirit beings, the spirit beings referred to here is also the state in which the human spirit exist (not as angels o). Now when the devil rebelled in heaven, God prepared a day and place of judgement for them for eternal damnation (hell fire), why? becos they can feel pain as spirit beings even in a denser dimension. So also is the spirit of man. Everyone who do not accept the life that Jesus gave and dies in sin is in the danger of such gross pain in hell *I'm not a pastor o 1 Like |

PastorOluT:do u just call it "life" ? Yes it is the " BREATH of LIFE" we receiv from God into our NOSTRILS (Gen 2:7). Now this is different from that of other creaturesNOT different, Scriptures said "man and beast have SAME spirit ' Ecc 3:19 Cos none was created in the image of God. Maybe u should do a little study on the image of God?Image of God doesnt mean God looks like a male human or that God look like Eve ( FEMALE) ........ While animals act on instinct , programmed to do a particular thing e.g cow will always make " mooo" sound BUT as humans, we are created in Gods image because we are INTELLIGENT CREATURES who exhibit the lovely character of our creator e.g ability to love, show comion, kindness and imitate his creator ( while our creator create birds, intelligent humans imitate him and produce an Aeroplane). Intelligent Creatures 2 Not really but it definitely came as a result of the breath of life.they are same, the breath of life is the " SPIRIT in our NOSTRILS" Job 27:3, 32:8 The breath of life brought about the spirit of manthey are same, " it is the spirit in people, The breath of the Almighty that gives them understanding" Job 32:8. he became consciuos having a soulAdam didnt have a soul and wasnt given a soul , RATHER he " became a living soul " and when he died ... He became a "dead soul" Num 6:6, he didnt ascend to heaven ( joh 3:13) but became as lifeless at the dust from which he was taken ( Gen 3:19) (the faculty of reasoning. Emotion and will)This is the work of our central processing unit, THE BRAIN ..... ( thats why nobody wish to become Mad ) 3 Obviously no, animals do not possess spirit cos though they were created by the breath, the breath only make them to become conscious and have soul bt not spirit. Animals have spirit, there is the " Spirit of animals" Ecc 9:21 4 Yes animals also possess the breath of life according to the scriptures. Of course .... Animals have spirit, in other words they have the breath of life ( Gen 7:15,22) 5 Their returning to God doesnt mean to Heavenyes ... That is why King David is still in the grave ( Act 2:29,34; psalm 6:5, Psalm 115:17) all would stand judgment before God, so do all men not ultimately return to God?do u think its a literal standing? No, everything on earth is automatically before God, as am typing right now and another person is viewing We are both standing before God, Who sees all things ( compare Exodus 16:9) INFACT if its literal ....the Millions of humans that died before Jesus came to earth will have went to God in heaven, DID THEY ? NO (Joh 3:13) . This is the judgement been reffered to: ' because God have SET A DAY on which he purposes to judge the inhabited EARTH in Righteousness ' - Act 17:31 , "set a day" reveal its still future, after the ressurection of the dead from the grave ( john 5:28,29). " for when there are judgements from God for the EARTH. The inhabitants of the land learn about righteousness ' - ISA 26:9 6 Smile, this one sound so funny But surely I will not be biased to the context that was said (meaning physical death). Obviously men of old were limited in the world beyond, so not knowing wether the dead praise God or not.did they wrote with their knowledge ? those men were INSPIRED BY GOD ...... Or are u sayin God dont know what he is saying ? While psalm 115:17 says " the dead do not praise God!" .... Psalm 6:5 explains similarly ' for in death, there is no mention of God; In the grave, who will praise you ? ' 7. I cant claim to possess knowledge to allI RESPECT your humility in this regard ........ The statement that led to my question is " father, into your hands I commend my spirit" Luke 23:46 ! Does that mean he went to heaven that day ? He address " THE FATHER" , is the father not living in heaven ? So did Jesus journey to heaven immeditly he died? NO! , So I cherish your answer that says " after his ressurection he was yet to reveal himself to the father" ..... Also before his Ressurection, Jesus was in d grave for three days and three nights ( matt 12:40) ! Which the scripture that says " as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all ......for there is no knowledge nor wisdom nor work in the Grave where you are going" Ecc 9:5,10. ( NOTE: there are some fabrications in the insertion of the english comma sign in Luke 23:43 and thats a different topic ) |

Humanity tries to give rational explanation to the vast strange environment it found itself hence, religion was created as a divine explanation to the mysteries of Life. It's quite a pity, humanity are like a toddler abandoned by her mother in an environment she grew up to find as strange, no one ever told her what her environment entails and so she gave her environment a defination, atleast to make some sense out of the life she lives. Religion was created out of the abondance of curiosity the mind of man wields from time immemorial and the desire for power and ordeliness, this gave birth to Religion and Politics - all in the verge of explaining by creating meaning to life, thereby setting a defined standard of living to their people/surbodinate. Humans are too emotional that they easily get swayed away by man-made doctrines from time immemorial, and that's why someone can convince someone to place explosives round his body, go ahead and kill himself and many others along with him all in the name of religion. I just truly pity the human race, so much ignorance in the loose... 1 Like |

I said to myself "on of mankind, for God to sift them out and for their own seeing that they are cattle, because mankind are an accident and cattle are an accident, and they have one fate: as this one dies, so does that one, and everything has one spirit, and man has no superiority over cattle because everything is nonsense. Everything goes to one place: everything is out of the clay and everything goes back to the clay; and who knows as to mankind's spirit whether it goes up and as to cattle's spirit whether it goes down to the ground? (Ecclesiastes 3:18-21 Byington) For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they anymore a reward, for the memory of them is forgotten;Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 King James Version) Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. CAPTIVATOR Atheism is calling on you bro, it's evident i tell ya... *Once upon a time the human race thought the earth is in the centre of the whole universe, but today we know better. *Once we thought we are the only creation created by the creator despite the evidence of the great vast cosmos set before our sight, but today we are beginning to realise we might not be the only civilization in the universe afterall from the evidence of Exra-terristerial visitation and UFO sightings. *We we taught heaven is God's throne and the earth is his footstole - making it look as if the earth is more significant than billions of unexplored planets and civilization unknown to us out there in space. But now we know better, the earth is so insignificant in comparism to vast bigger and more colourful planets out there beyond our reach which when viewed from a larger view renders earth so irrelevant. There is more to life, there's alot to be explored, but religion seems to limit to potential of man from truly exploring it's environment and extra-territories. There is just to much to be explored in the vast universe, in an hundred years from now religion will becomes so irrelevant as a result of science findings. Imagine what will be the fate of religion when humanity finds out that there are lots of civilizations out there in the vast universe that are far more technologically advance than us and more intelligent than we are, though they've been watching us all these years, seeing our development but chose not to interfere with our progress ![]() I know it's gonna shake the very foundation of religion. This scenario is unavoidable, it's just matter of when... Cheers! 1 Like |

CAPTIVATOR please explain these verses: "Since you've been cut down, there's no one around to cut us down." And the underworld dead are all excited, preparing to welcome you when you come. Getting ready to greet you are the ghostly dead, all the famous names of earth. All the buried kings of the nations will stand up on their thrones With well-prepared speeches, royal invitations to death: "Now you are as nothing as we are! Make yourselves at home with us dead folks!" This is where your pomp and fine music led you, Babylon, to your underworld private chambers, A king-size mattress of maggots for repose and a quilt of crawling worms for warmth. What a comedown this, O Babylon! Daystar! Son of Dawn! Flat on your face in the underworld mud, you, famous for flattening nations!... But you didn't make it, did you? Instead of climbing up, you came down— Down with the underground dead, down to the abyss of the Pit. People will stare and muse: "Can this be the one Who terrorized earth and its kingdoms, turned earth to a moonscape, Wasted its cities, shut up his prisoners to a living death?" (Isa 14:9-12,15-17 MGS) |

tundysho: The spirit isnt inanimate and it is more real than the flesh, so I think this is where u get it wrong that u can no longer function in the spiritual realm. Who u really are is the spirit n not just the flesh, its the spirit that gives life to ur flesh making u alive. So after death in the flesh ur real man continues to live and its capable of experience all u experienced while in the flesh. |
