My laptop keeps displaying a dark screen on start up, I can also see d cursor on d screen. What do I do pls?

Reboot your laptop.When it gets to the first logo press the f8 key repeatedly till it shows you the option to boot into safe mode.From there you can boot into safe mode and do system restore.

when was the last time you run a registry cleaner, if you haven't done that then get ccleaner boot into save mode, install and run it. click on registry >> scan for issues wait till it finish scanning then click on fix selected issues, reboot and your problem should be fixed. second solution, If it still show black screen and cursor, press ctrl+alt+del start task manager, click file, select run new task, it will bring a text box, type. explorer.exe, then click ok, wait for a few seconds, your desktop should load. lemme know if it doesn't work for you. |

How long is it gonna take before you tell this dude to format his system. Dude, having tried all the aforementioned, i think IMHO its high you shoved an OS bootable disk into your disk drive and do the needful. |

im having this same problem, my hp pavilion stops booting at starting windows, thats all. i ve tried my best but no success, though i ve not taken it to a technician, i dont want to format it yet cos i ve important documents in there. just confused
