Random Questions..

- Does OAU allow the use of calculators during post UTME examination?

- How many semesters does OAU have in a session?

- At what level do MBBS students leave OAU for the teaching hospital thingy?

- What's the cut off for Biochemistry last year?

- Has Jamb exam date been postponed?

I read through some posts earlier and noticed some sort of disagreement concerning details about the computer faculty. The department is 'computer science and engineering', consisting of three course options namely:
1.Computer Engineering
2.Computer Science with Economics
3.Computer Science with Mathematics
All courses take five years and are under the Faculty of Technology. I graduated from the department last July.
I will en prospective applicants to be proactive by browsing the University website as well as that of their respective departments to get familiar with the activities of those departments. Good luck.

Bro please you know about the rightful combinations for computer science... Is it eng, maths.phys, bio or eng, maths, phys, chem or is chem and bio optional

I'm a newly itted student of that department, computer engineering to be precise. I would be grateful if you dropped some words of advice, something motivating. Thanks.

It is a physical science course, so the subject combinations are Mathematics, English, Physics and Chemistry. Be sure of which of the computer science options you are applying for though.

Congratulations on your ission into the department. It is one of the top programs in the country and I believe you will have a fabulous experience.
Having said that, there are lot of precautions you need to take before resumption. You will need to create a definite goal for yourself before coming in. The programming courses in the curriculum are not stringent enough for a contemporary computer program, so you have to work by yourself. Most computer engineering students work on software based projects as the infrastructure for engineering is not really sufficient. If you want a top grade, you need to totally dedicate your time to studying hard. Engineering students generally face the toughest challenge in 200 level when they take challenging courses like MEE 205, MTH 201, MEE 206; the number of courses is also many at this stage. Summarily, stay with your books and do not be distracted because you will be tempted to.
You may then ask me when you are supposed to acquire technical skills. Use your holidays and strikes. You still have about four months till May so you will do yourself a great deal if you pick up a Java or C# book and use the internet to learn the basics of these courses. No one will spoon feed you in that department.
Anything less than a 4.0 is not too advantageous, so that should be your benchmark. Good luck.

please do you think one has a chance of ission through DE into the department with distinction-3.72 computer science from laspotech?
Re: 2015/2016 OAU Aspirant Thread. by Nobody: 7:57pm On Jan 07, 2015
The department has a lot of preference for high academic grades from reputable polytechnics for DE ission. I know students from different polytechnics get accepted but the popular ones are EDE and ILARO. Others include IBADAN, YABATECH, RUFUS GIWA. Since I was not D.E student, I cannot unequivocally suggest your chances. But maybe you can leverage on your stellar grades. Wish you luck.
