9 Cedis is 90000 Cedis.
When Cedis was redominated in 2007, it was 10000 Cedis to USD. Four zeroes were removed to make it 1 Cedis to 1 USD. Now it has depreciated to 90000 Cedis and you are all clapping.

I never knew we had this much Gen Z on Nairaland.

You talk about Ghana exporting gold Palm oil and other natural resources. What does Nigeria export other than crude oil? Ghana is also one of the largest exporters of cocoa.
Nigeria used to be among the largest exporters of cocoa and palm oil. Where are we today?

Cordoso, go and learn from this people.
We need to humble ourselves and ask Ghanians what they are doing right.

Ghana redecimalised their currency and removed 4 zeroes from it overnight, pure mago mago that caused a lot of suffering and political careers to end over there.

If Cardoso redecimalises Naira now and we start going through the short and medium term pain that arises as a result, in a bid to get to single digit value, you will not let us rest.

When you hear news like this, to put it in context. We have nothing to learn from Ghana finance wise despite PDP and Bubu runing the country and Naira to the ground.

Some will know the truth but will still use it to play politics.

Thanks for the clear explanation.

I think this is quite impressive as the Ghanian currency cedis is in hot pursuit of the dollar as 1 dollar is equivalent to 9 Ghana cedis.
I also heard Yahoo boys are now flooding Ghana to bomb 💣 too.

This is the essence of true economic reform, delivering measurable results without imposing undue hardship on the citizenry.

Tinubu, Wale Edun, Cardoso, and others who claim to have made Lagos what it is today must acknowledge that their policies have contributed to the collapse of the naira and the crash of the Nigerian economy in just two years. They owe Nigerians an apology and must be willing to set aside their pride. It may be wise for them to seek guidance from Ghana’s leadership, whose approach to economic reform offers valuable lessons in balancing progress with comion.

What has been imposed on Nigerians in the name of reform has been anything but, a series of harsh, poorly conceived policies that have led to widespread hardship, strife, hunger, and rising insecurity.

Many of you are educated Illiterates. Your education has no significant and positive impacts on you. It shows clearly from the rubbish you have written. There's absolutely no point engaging with you in conversation.

You can buy Ghanaian yam and palm oil in supermarkets in Europe and America. Why is it difficult for Nigeria to do same?

Tinubu should please help us make $1 = 2500 naira and work on reducing insecurity, that's all we need from him

Commendable, I'm impressed. But you do also realize that exchange rate does not necessarily equal purchasing power parity?. As in, even if 1 Ghana cedis is = 1 dollar, it doesn't mean they both have the same economic value in both countries?

Correct.
One dollar to the Japanese Yen is 144
One dollar to the Chinese yuan is 0.14
One dollar to the South Africa rand is 17

Naira Re-Denomination Suspended

KnowAll:
The president has spoken (100 days in power watched it last night), Redomination of the naira is not neccessary as we dont have hyper - inflation like Zimbabwe or Ghana where $1 changes for C18,000.00 b4 their recent re-denomonitaion. In Zimbabwe it is even worse where $1 is about Z$100,000.00 dollars.

thats untrue. You are just assuming it. Nigerians are not running away because $1 goes for N1,700. They run away because they can earn in dollar and when converted gives them what they cannot earn within Nigeria.

Naira Re-Denomination Suspended

If the leaders know what they are doing they should know the current exchange rate is responsible for making things expensive in the country and something needs to be done even if it is partial redomination of the currency.

Not true,if the exchange rate is 1 dollar to 10 naira ,I bet you there will be no need for N8gerians to go overseas especially if they have a good job.

Thank you so so much.
A lot of economic and historical illiterates here.
If ghana's currency is doing so well, shouldn't their cost of living also be reducing? Everything you can buy in Nigeria is sold for twice or more the price in Ghana.

These people just read something and the next thing is to start bashing their own country without even understanding the implications of what they read. It's terribly annoying.

I have always tried to educate those around me concerning this issue but it seems they have already decided on what to believe or what not to.
Just about 4 years ago when I was staying in Ghana, that was when I realised that the whole Ghana Economy is centred around Accra and it's not bigger than just Lagos economic. It's disrespectful comparing Ghana to Nigeria aside security and electricity.
Then, noodle that we would buy in Nigeria for ₦400 was sold in Ghana for an equivalent of ₦1,200.
If I were Tinubu, I would damn the consequences and redenominate the naira, remove just 000 and make the dollar to a naira become $1 = ₦1.60 Kobo. Make we see if these illiterate go still see something to talk about.
Though, it's embarrassing and shameful that the dollar is exchanging at ₦1,600 as at today, it should have been around ₦500 at least. The CBN needs to work on this, it doesn't sounds well to the ears

Theirs is even worse because it was 4 0000 that they removed and not 3 000. Meaning Nigeria economic is still far better than theirs at $1 - ₦1,600 because If we decide to remove 3 000 now, the naira will become ₦1.60 Kobo to a dollar
