Super Falcons squad list for the 2 Cameroon friendlies
Dunno why I suspect, there will be absentees.
Some folks don retire with NFF organizational madness.
Imagine not playing 4 friendlies, it will only get worse.
And why Ordega, why not look towards youth?

I think NFF is trying to forcefully retire some of our professional players. The introduction of home based players is very ok but why not make it gradually

I really hope those of our star players that arenโ€™t on the list havenโ€™t quit from the team

The inclusion of eight Nigeria Womenโ€™s Football League (NWFL) players in the Super Falconsโ€™ 23-player squad for the friendly matches against Cameroonโ€™s Indomitable Lionesses on May 31 and June 3, 2025, reflects a strategic blend of fresh talent and experienced players. Under interim head coach Justine Madugu, this approach aims to prepare the team for the 2024 Womenโ€™s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled for July 5โ€“26, 2025, in Morocco.

Injection of Fresh Talent and Energy:
Players like Bolaji Olamide and Blessing Ilivieda, whoโ€™ve been killing it in the NWFL, bring a ton of energy and hunger to the squad. Combined with motivated returnees like Francisca Ordega and Rinsola Babajide, who are itching to prove they still got it, and youโ€™ve got a squad ready to compete.

โ–ซ๏ธTactical Flexibility and Depth: The new invitees allow Madugu to experiment with formations and playing styles during the friendlies. This builds squad depth, reduces reliance on star players, and helps identify substitutes for potential injuries or fatigue at WAFCON, while preserving key playersโ€™ energy.

โ–ซ๏ธ for Local League Development: Selecting eight home-based players signals the Nigeria Football Federationโ€™s (NFF) confidence in the NWFL, encouraging the growth of domestic womenโ€™s football and inspiring younger players.

โ–ซ๏ธCost-Effective Talent Pool: Utilizing local players minimizes logistical and financial challenges compared to recalling foreign-based stars, simplifying travel and camp arrangements for friendlies.

Limited Exposure to Elite Competition: NWFL players are talented, but they might struggle against a strong side like Cameroon since they donโ€™t face that level of competition often. Nigeriaโ€™s got nine WAFCON titles, so the pressureโ€™s on, and mistakes could attract scrutiny and affect player confidence. Plus, blending newbies with stars like Chiamaka Nnadozie and Rasheedat Ajibade might take time, potentially disrupting team cohesion.

โ–ซ๏ธTactical Uncertainty: With only one matchโ€”a 2-1 loss to โ€”since December 2023, the Super Falcons lack recent game time compared to rivals like South Africa, who played five matches in the same period. An unsettled squad could hinder Maduguโ€™s ability to establish a consistent playing style for WAFCONโ€™s Group B opponents (Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana).

โ–ซ๏ธFan and Media Backlash: Excluding in-form players like Gift Monday has sparked criticism, which could create negative sentiment and pressure the coaching staff, potentially distracting from preparations.

โ–ซ๏ธRisk of Underperformance: With just two months until WAFCON, an untested squad risks repeating Nigeriaโ€™s disappointing fourth-place finish in 2022, undermining their status as Africaโ€™s most successful womenโ€™s team.

โ–ซ๏ธLogistical Challenges: Frequent squad changes demand resources for scouting and integration, which could strain the NFFโ€™s budget, especially if foreign-based players are recalled later.

As Africaโ€™s most successful womenโ€™s team with nine WAFCON titles, the Super Falcons have a big rep to uphold. If this mixed squad doesnโ€™t click, it could hurt their image and let down fans, especially after losing the title to South Africa in 2022. Madugu needs to use these friendlies to get everyone working together and fine-tune the game plan, while the NFF sorts out money and logistics. Balancing fresh NWFL talent with experienced players is key to getting Nigeria back on top in Morocco.

Yeah yeahโ€ฆ But her size isnโ€™t a major problem though, have seen Goalkeepers bigger than her perform well.. As she grows she will reduce gradually..!

Look at Judith Chime, Rachael Ayegba they were far bigger than her but still played at the top level..

I have seen a lot of criticism about this girl, that she isnโ€™t good and donโ€™t deserve a call upโ€ฆ But again Iโ€™m wondering if she is very Bad, why would Randy of all Coach invite her back then and Madugu still do thesame??

I know she did play only few games for Bayelsa Queens this past season but again haven watch her play on few occasions, she can be better and should be considered as well.. Sheโ€™s well built, have a great height and a good shot stopper. Her grips are pretty okay, commands the box well, good in aerial balls, can also save penalties very wellโ€ฆ

Donโ€™t know much about her Ball playing and 1-V-1 abilities though..

Major reason is not even about sample size of those that beat the odds. There'll always be such. We saw how No.1 got slower with gains and how she shapali hit the gym and recovered. Linda has bulked up so much and it's concerning. If e cost anything nobody go all the rest of others than can still be agile and swift while bulky.

Nigeria football authorities needs to train our female footballers that they don't have to look like a male because they've chosen to become a footballer , they can maintain their female traits and still play football....most Nigeria league players dress like male because they believe football is a man sport
