A meeting of a high-profile coalition, which included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party's Peter Obi, and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi among others, was thrown into chaos when delegates from Jigawa State interrupted the discussions.

Tensions escalated when Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, designated a delegate to represent the state.

In a show of protest, multiple delegates from Jigawa took to the stage, preventing the person from speaking and asserting that they refused to be represented by the individuals mentioned.

As the confrontation intensified, security staff, comprising the Nigerian Police, DSS, and private guards, swiftly assembled a defensive line around prominent individuals like Atiku and Amaechi, among others.

After a few minutes of urging for calm, peace was reestablished. Mustapha Lamido, the son of Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State, was selected alongside another delegate to represent the state's interests.

I have seen online reports saying that Peter Obi would run alone on LP in 2027. If I will be in Nigeria that time and he goes ahead to do that, I won't even bother voting on the election day because it will be a total waste of time and vote. He needs a coalition to unseat Tinubu.

I see merger but this time will be on a more solidify ground. All those political prostitutes that jump to a party because of monetary or security to looted funds will have no place in the new era. They will face the tune of their looting and corruption. I trust my people to disengage all there alliance and drive sustainability leadership.

BREAKING: Chaos erupts as Jigawa delegates disrupt Atiku, Obi coalition meeting

By Abdulrahman Zakariyau
25th May 2025

A high-level coalition meeting involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and others descended into chaos as delegates from Jigawa State disrupted the proceedings.

The ongoing coalition meeting at the Abuja Continental Hotel, organised by the National Political Consultative Group (North), was briefly disrupted following a disagreement over representation for Jigawa State.

Tensions rose when former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, announced a delegate to speak for the state.

In protest, several Jigawa delegates stormed the stage, blocking the individual from speaking and insisting they would not be represented by those named.

As the confrontation escalated, security personnel, including of the Nigerian Police, DSS, and private guards, quickly formed a protective barrier around key figures such as Atiku, Amaechi and others.

Calm was restored after several minutes of appeals, as Mustapha Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, along with another delegate, was chosen to speak on behalf of the state.

And what will be his role in the coalition? Will he be the party chairman or what?

Good for democracy, politics shouldn't be about a one party system of govt. Let's see how it goes in 2027.

Y’all just make concessions to deliver us from the monster in power now

Hardship tooo much

If we give this man another 4 years, he will have nothing else to loose than to unleash tax and hardship all over the land

Don’t mind the governors whose allocations were increased to buy them over and also the HA with their endorsements. Good a thing they are few. All of them are not hungry

They don’t know how terrible the economy is

They don’t feel the astronomical cost of items in the markrt

Obi is really making mature political moves and that's commendable.
He is the only politician right now (aside Buhari) that can mobilize six million votes at the click of a button without spending shishi while it will take hundreds of billions of Nigeria's looted money + rigging and server glitch for Tinubu/APC to get same votes.
