This is similar to the situation here in the US. During segregation, 2 parent households were higher, and there were per capita - more black owned businesses. Maybe because they couldn't go to white establishments, so they made their own.
If blacks kept their culture of hard work, family, and caring for their own like back in the day, coupled with all the restrictions of the Jim Crow era that were keeping them segregated and discriminated against, blacks would have been the top class in this country since the jim crow era is gone.

Microsoft did the same thing with Nokia, Nokia was dying and Microsoft bought them so they can have a brand to carry their mobile OS. Both Microsoft and Nokia could not compete with what was on the market.
