@chelseaboy, Thanks soo much for your response but what can a visiting visa do in Canada? I won’t be able to work or do anything, i will only be wasting ticket money if I’m unable to work in Canada and this is the reason i am thinking of seeking asylum. Please is there is any other option with this visiting visa, I will be soo glad to know. Thanks

A visitor visa is intended for short-term visits. Apply for the proper visa if you intend to work or stay for an extended period of time.

Hello people..

It's been a while people have shared their timelines here. Any idea which month the embassy is currently processing?

Please people share your .

Thank you.

port request came at exactly 6.30 when i was driving out of the house.
TimeLine

I submitted my application on January 13, 2025. My current TRV was set to expire on April 10, 2025, which coincided with the expiration date of my biometric validity. I thought making an early application before the expiration of my current visa would improve my chances.

After submission, I checked online for information on how to renew my biometrics before they expired but couldn't find any clear guidance. Instead, I stumbled upon information about making additional payments. I made the payment, obtained the receipt, and ed it via a web form.

About a month later, I received a response from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) inquiring about the purpose of the payment. I explained the situation.

May 2, 2025: I received a call from my bank asking if I had used my statement for a visa application, as IRCC needed to the information.

May 13: I received a notification stating that my biometrics had expired. I was worried, thinking that the web form submission was a waste of time and money. However, on May 14, at around 2 a.m., I received a Biometric Validity Letter (BVL) instruction. I booked an appointment for the same day and completed my biometrics.( na rush hour them born me,i dey always rush everything)

May 20 which is today: PPR request around 6:30 a.m. I just de come back from VFS as I de type like like this. No time to check time

Hello Everyone, my sister put in her application last year July, we made sure to keep checking her portal almost everyday but later stopped actively checking early feb when there was no movement. They sent her PPR on Feb 19th but there was no do not reply email notification whatsoever even in spam, she just checked her profile yesterday and found the ppr, now it is past the 30days. Please what can she do about it? Who has been in this position before and what did you do ?

How about just entering with the right visa in the first place? Tourist visa, visitor visa—same thing.

Even though you have a 10-year visa, you're only allowed to stay for a maximum of 6 months per entry. Anything beyond that on a visitor visa means you've overstayed.

So let’s work with the 6-month limit.

You’ll be looking for ission into a school. The average ission process takes time. Even if you get accepted quickly, you’ve already lost some of that 6-month window.

Applying for a study permit from inside Canada currently takes about 5 weeks, but we all know IRCC can take much longer—let’s say 2 months realistically.

And IRCC isn’t stupid. They can sense when someone’s trying to game the system.

So again, why not just apply for a study visa from the start?

This month, IRCC removed the option to apply for a study permit from within Canada as a visitor. You are now expected to leave Canada to apply. My friend is now stranded in Canada, as he was previously hoping to switch from visitor to student status but that’s no longer possible!

If you want to apply for a study permit, you must

leave the country, and
follow the instructions to apply from outside Canada

This is an updated news.
Thank you.

In Europe, some countries like spain has also stopped all Study applications from inside the country as I learnt as of May 20th 2025. More European countries are moving quickly and tightening up immigration.
The UK 🇬🇧 too are talking tough. Trump has been heavy on deportations.

However, there are other visa categories that you can use to stay inside these countries on a tourist visa.

Probably, you need ask more, some kind of visa categories I think, you can still apply from inside.

Kindly share a source for this updated news.

Thanks for the updated transcript.

Interested applicants are always advised to keep themselves updated with events as it unfolds.

We hope that more visa opportunities are opened for many willing to relocate.

She should submit a webform explaining the situation that she didn’t receive any email notification and only just saw the PPR message in her portal. Be polite but clear and request reissuance or reactivation of the PPR.let hope ircc can give positive answer!

If your Canadian visitor visa was refused recently , avoid reapplying immediately. Rushing may make you appear desperate which often leads to another refusal especially now that IRCC is applying stricter scrutiny. Instead, consider travelling to countries with easier visa approval. Building a solid travel history can strengthen your credibility and show that you're a genuine tourist who respects visa conditions.Be strategic, not reactive. Reapply only when your case is stronger.

Please guys I have a question about Canada Asylum . I have a visiting visa and the plan is to see Asylum immediately I land in Canada.

1. Is this route advisable as I’m only with a visiting visa and just need to leave this country.

2. Does Canada reject Asylum seekers ?

3. Some people kept saying that the rate at which they grant asylum is now soo low but my question is is there no way to later convert my asylum status to probably Getting married to a Canadian or US citizen while still on the asylum visa or Going to School or something.

Please I really need a strong and sincere advice

If you go on Facebook or private Telegram groups, you’ll see people selling you a dream — telling you that claiming asylum in Canada is easy, that you’ll have no issues, and that the government will even give you money just for applying.

In the name of Jesus Christ, or whoever you believe in, please do not come to Canada with the mindset of claiming asylum.

That process can ruin your life and keep you in limbo.

You will wait 2–4 years just to get a court date, and all the money you earn during that time will go straight to immigration lawyers — who will milk you dry.
You’ll find yourself running from one Nigerian church to another, begging for help. And trust me, those Nigerian pastors abroad will use you to clean the church from top to bottom.

Don’t fall for it. Please.

Now, to answer your second question — Do asylum claims get denied?

Yes, and very often. If you go down that road, you’ll become one of the 19,889 people stuck in limbo with pending claims — most of whom will eventually get rejected. You’ll keep appealing, keep spending on lawyers, and keep getting rejected.

https://www.irb-cisr.gc.ca/en/statistics/protection/Pages/RPDStat2024.aspx

The numbers don’t lie.

But if you're looking for someone to eat your money and sell you a dream, sure — there are plenty waiting for you. eg CANADA BOY on facebook

Canada is hard. Jobs are scarce. Everyone is struggling.

And if you think you can fix it by marrying a Canadian after claiming asylum — think again. You’ll still be deported. Just ask Festus Oduah:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/nigerian-man-removal-order-family-1.5384783

Yes, he eventually returned — but only after his wife spent a ridiculous amount of money to fight for him Side note How many women will do that for you hahahahahahah

IRCC only allowed it because of their daughter. But make no mistake: he was deported in 2019 I believe he came back last year 2024.

If you’ve ever been ordered to leave a country or deported — even if you later became a citizen of that country — when applying for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or visa for countries like the UK, US, or in Europe, you will still be required to answer Yes to the question: Have you ever been ordered to leave or deported from any country?

This is because during the asylum process, you are often issued a Removal Order — even if it’s not immediately enforced. That Removal Order stays on your record.

As a result, many countries may deny you visa-free access, even if your port would normally qualify for it.

Side Note:

This is a hidden consequence that many people are not aware of. Having a Removal Order on your immigration record can affect your ability to travel freely for life. Even after gaining citizenship, some countries will see you as a high-risk traveler and may restrict or deny entry.

So again — think long and hard before you go down the asylum route based on false promises.

The long-term impact can follow you even after you think the struggle is over.

Please I take God beg you

Do not come to Canada planning to claim asylum.

You will sleep on the streets because funding for Ayslum claims are reducing

IRCC can smell fraudulent claims.

The system is frustrating, harsh, and sometimes even inhumane. And doing a fake marriage to fix things? Even worse.

If you want to come, come the right way.
A visitor visa is for visiting — not for staying. Visit, then go back, so you can come again.

Yes, you can.

The processing time takes a minimum of 5 weeks as of todays processing time https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html

It might take a little longer, but yes, that's still enough time to process it.

To be honest, it's a dicey case. Don’t apply immediately after they leave—wait at least six months after they’ve settled in. Doing it too soon might look like you're chasing after them, which could raise red flags.

Please, use a licensed immigration lawyer/consultant —no Facebook visa agents, please! 😂 A licensed immigration lawyer/consultant is your best bet.

If you’re serious about making this possible, you’ll need to get a court order in Nigeria stating that you have some level of custody of the child.

Your wife must also write a statement agreeing to this arrangement.

Ideally if possible when visiting stay with your brother who lives in Canada.

That way, you can say you'll be staying with your brother, who can help monitor your movements and your case.

If your brother is a PR holder or citizen, even better—he can also write a letter confirming that you’ll be on good behavior while visiting your child.

Here are the four key things you need to focus on:

1. Be Clear and Honest About the Purpose of Your Visit
Clearly state that your ex-wife is relocating to Canada and you want to visit your minor son who will be living there. Include custody documents or any proof of relationship. If your son is under 18, emphasize your parental role in his life.

2. Prove Strong Ties to Nigeria
This is one of the biggest reasons visit visas get rejected. You must show clear, convincing proof that you will return to Nigeria after your visit. You’ll need to figure this out based on your personal situation—property, job, family, etc.

3. Financial Proof
Provide bank statements showing consistent income or savings. Be prepared to clearly explain what you do for a living and how you fund your lifestyle and your trip to canada. Be careful: claiming crypto income from Nigeria can raise suspicions.

You might want to stay in other line of business.

That’s part of why the Canadian government banned platforms like Binance in Canada sad but its just the reality on ground https://blog.netcoins.com/list-of-banned-crypto-exchanges-in-canada-stay-informed-on-regulations/

4. Use a Licensed Immigration Consultant or Lawyer
Don't let anyone lie to you. Your case is complex, so hiring a professional could save you multiple rejections and lots of stress. Yes, it will be expensive, but it’s worth it. In Nigeria, there are only a 5 Yes you are reading it correctly 5 recognized licensed immigration consultants https://.college-ic.ca/Public--EN/RCIC_Search.aspx

If you receive a biometric instruction letter and go ahead to book and complete your biometrics at the Canada Visa Application Centre as instructed, then you have to wait for IRCC's final decision, which could take about 3 to 4 months from the date of your biometrics..so have you given ur biometric at visa centre?
