Why do Nigerian Mechanic's, electrician always writer-off other car make/brands. Some months ago I wanted to buy a Nissan Teana, called many mechanic, electrical people etc almost 95% was against me buying the Nissan with different negative opinions about Nissan cars.

After my personal research and Investigation concerning the reliability of the car I followed my mine and end up buying the car, I have driven & owned different brand of cars including Toyota's before, I can tell you the Nissan Teana presently outclass them and since then no issue with parts availability everywhere.

Here is where my question why do many Nigerian especially mechanics condemn car makes and brands many haven't driven or experienced before concluding?

Just make sure you're maintaining it well so you will enjoy it. By the time you start using it for like 2-3 years and above, you will understand why they told you to get a Toyota.

Toyota is very rugged, reliable and the parts can be easily gotten anywhere. A Toyota Camry 2002 a bro of mine bought in 2009, the car still dey one of his compound and is still functioning well.

My point is, you can't use months ago to judge the car. Anything from a year, then it should be mature

I my paddi wey buy used Nissan murano ....few weeks after purchase..nigga said I almost made him miss the 'cool" SUV because I told him to buy a pencil light Camry instead..

I can't forget how I gloated when the car started to drive him instead of the other way round......I've not seen such loss in a few months...Murano wey he buy for 1.7M, he sold it for 450k out of frustration..

Owned a Teana for over 10 years , not one day did it's fail me , even got flooded in Oniru flood that year and when I came to pick it the next morning bit started one hand and never needed to go to a mechanic ....The only problem is the ts , they need constant changing because of bad roads

The Nissan brand just has a bad rep. As long as you know how to maintain a car, you'll be fine. cool

There is a problem that's common with every cars. Nissa was a nice car before until they introduced the cvt transmission.

The cvt transmission was a big flop. Most time it takes 2-5 years before those mistakes started showing up and by that Time it's already too late with the market already started shifting away after people sad experience.

Especially if the problem is too serious and cannot be managed. Alof of Nissan was grounded because of gearbox issues.

It affected the price of Nissan. Because a lot of the cars was already produced and still under production line.

Honda Accord suffers in Nigeria particularly because of bad roads. Due to double wishbone. It took them more than a decade to even know of it and corrected it. It's mainly cause by inferior 3rd party ball ts or cheap aftermarket.

Toyota have shocks, shaft and hubs issues. Engine oil Burns. And the engine doesn't survive over heating. All of which are serious problems but can be managed. I see most Nigeria cars especially Toyota when they enter bad road all kinds of noice comes out from the suspension. Those type of people abusing cars and the ones bouthing other car brands and with Nigerian useless mechanics.

I will never be comfortable driving a car with different kind of noice.

If you have good and experience mechanics. You can use any car and it will serve you.

Different strokes for different folks though.

My friend bought a NISSAN 2006 PATHFINDER and his life never remained the same.

The car almost sent him to the afterlife with frustration. Dude almost went bankrupt. To make matters worse, we his friends nicknamed him PATHFINDER. cheesy cheesy

The day he finally sold the car, he called us one after the other and asked us to thank God for his life. If you dare mention anything NISSAN in his presence, he may cut off your head. cheesy cheesy

There are no bad cars, just bad handlers.

I drive an Honda, and I've used other brands. My mum used a babyboy 1999 back then when I was a teenager and I always see the way the car messes us up with the leg issue. This almost poisoned my mind. My first car was not even Honda, but I will tell you, I have used 2007, 2012 and presently 2014 accord and not once I have regretted the idea.

Funnily, my 2014 uses CVT gear and lots of so called expert advised me against it. Not for once have I been stranded with any of my Hondas. In Short, no bad cars, just bad s and handlers. First thing you do before buying a car is to read about the cons and probable issues then plan accordingly if your chest carry am.
