I will blame the father the most, the only offence of that officer is unprofessional conduct by misfiring the tyres of the car. He used his stupidity to cut short the life of an innocent boy.

I was sentimental unti I saw the video of his reckless driving even when the police and FRSC mounted a barricades to stop him. He behave like kidnapper or arm robber who want to escape arrest in that video.

You can search for it on Facebook or any other Internet site.
Just shaking my head for those blaming the police.

I believe that's a tinted vehicle, police have no idea a child is inside.

I've watched countless police videos in various countries.

Even in advanced countries, if you break traffic and police flagged you and zoom off, you'll definitely be chased. There are countless videos out there.

The man was endangering people's lives and that of his son

Don't accept the narration of the police PRO. Yes, Mr. Odunayo might have broken traffic rule, does it warrant an officer to shoot at him? What time does he have to be driving in commotion as painted by the police after beating the traffic?

Some of these officers are high on something before embarking on the day's activities. Many are also cultists seeking to shed blood.
Dude watch the video...

The man is responsible for his son death...

Tinted car, broke traffic rules and was driving and wrecking other cars, endangering the lives of other road s or pedestrians.

I doubt police knew there was a child in the vehicle since it's tinted.

Honestly, if the wife sees this video, he won't forgive that man for killing his son
Why una no dey ever use una head for this county ? Does everything you said warrant firing live ammunition at a traffic offender or was he armed? What if the stray bullets did hit your father in the process of such recklessness? What happened to taking photos of his number and impounding and auctioning the vehicle like it’s done in Lagos?
Both the father and the w*rey officer should be cooling off in prison.
Pls make una dey use una brain once annually at least🙏

You need use the brain honestly.

Traffic offense is a different case, refusing to stop when flagged it's a different case, ramming into other cars is a different case.

Go and try it in America, since you think Nigeria is jungle.

Una civilians go just dey una couch dey talk rubbish, without single sense of what security threat is.

Anything that makes you not to stop when flagged by security officers, you've automatically sent a signal to them that you're a criminal.

As e take one way so make e jam your papa or as e dey run from stop make e jam your papa na same way you go reason?

He killed his son... Period

With the manner he tried to escape even after been cornered. What was he hiding? He even almost killed the traffic agency staff or other road s in the process. Worst case is that they seize your car and you pay fines. Instead he tried to flee and even damaging the car and endangering other road s in the process?

The Police officer would likely plea on the line that he was trying to save the lives of other road s that are being endangered by the reckless driver, including the man's son that unfortunately lost his life the the process.

The video right here will help the police in court and the officer that shot will likely walk free.

As crazy as the American police and drivers can be at times, their police chase down offenders in an effort to impound their vehicles as well as their licenses to ensure such drivers don’t get behind the wheel for life for the safety of the masses and other road s.
As crazy and notorious as the US police are, they don’t fire live bullets at erring drivers no matter the level of destructions caused during pursuit and unless he’s equally armed.
The point is, I the confiscation of traffic offender’s vehicles for auctioning like we have it here in Lagos but lethal force are not to be employed in cases where an offender is not armed since there are better ways to get them arrested without putting anyone’s life in jeopardy. Now imagine those reckless live rounds struck your innocent mother who was just going about her own business?. Firing live rounds in such a crowded place was just unreasonable, unacceptable, reckless and should be condemned to prevent such from ever happening again. Aren’t you even concerned and troubled by the fact that our supposed highly trained officer couldn’t even accurately hit his target? (the tires as claimed)

Rebuker:
A newly surfaced video has shed light on the tragic incident in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot by police officers during an operation that was initially intended to apprehend his father for a traffic offense.

Earlier reports had suggested that the officers were chasing an alleged internet fraudster when a stray bullet struck the young student. However, the newly released footage contradicts this, showing that the incident actually involved a t task force consisting of personnel from the Oyo State Police Command and the Oyo State Traffic Management Authority (OYTMA).

In the video, the officers are seen attempting to intercept a Black Honda Accord driven by Odunayo Alade, the boy’s father, who had reportedly flouted traffic regulations. As the car sped off in defiance of the officers' orders, a gunshot rings out. Voices speaking in Yoruba can be heard saying: “They should pursue him”, “let’s go”, “he can’t escape”, “he shouldn’t have gone.”

Shortly afterward, the vehicle halts and bystanders gather at the scene. The boy is spotted lying motionless on the ground, with police officers surrounding him. Two men lift the boy, seemingly trying to place him back into the vehicle. Blood is visibly staining the pavement nearby.

Amid the commotion, a voice from the crowd is heard asking: “Who fired the gun?” Meanwhile, a distressed man — believed to be the father — is seen gripping a police officer, apparently the one who fired the shot. He cries out in anguish: “Shoot me; you have to shoot me too.”

Later that day, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, issued a statement providing further details about the incident. According to him, the vehicle driven by Alade had violated traffic laws around 7:45 am near the Airport Roundabout in the Alakia axis of Ibadan. When officials attempted to stop him, he allegedly accelerated in defiance, colliding with two OYTMA vehicles and a Police Buffalo Patrol truck.

The statement continues: “Rather than complying with lawful directives, the driver allegedly accelerated towards the enforcement team in an attempt to evade arrest, ramming into two OYTMA vehicles and a Police Buffalo Patrol truck.”

To prevent additional danger to officers and other road s, barricades were set up to stop the fleeing vehicle. However, Alade reportedly broke through these barriers and continued driving in a reckless manner, posing risks to those around.

During this pursuit, a police corporal discharged his weapon. The bullet pierced the rear of the vehicle and struck the boy, who was seated behind the driver. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

The officer responsible for firing the shot has since been detained, and the authorities have launched an ongoing investigation into the matter.

why should the first line of defence within the police force carry ammunition? Armed police officers should only be called or engaged when it is necessary

So many unprofessional d0Its in the police force.
Most of them are just very reckless and lack discipline.
Why can't they learn how to stop vehicle by shooting at the tires?
This is completely avoidable!
They can simply just take down the number plate and use it to trace the offender.
Why just shoot recklessly?
The officer and the offender needs to be severely punished.

I totally agree with you, but the father if the victim could also easily comply and all these could have been avoided ..

That man is very stupid. Now that he's lost his son I hope he's very happy with himself.

Why not stop when they ask you to stop. Even if your papers are not complete highest they'll do is to collect money from you.

Now his stubbornness has cost the life of his son.

And to the police officer that discharged his firearm. He should be arrested and jailed.
why will they shoot at him

Lol. U think it's easy to aim at the tyres of a moving vehicle? Don't let what u see in movies fool u. There was absolutely no reason to discharge any firearm in this situation. If they can't safely chase the car then they should let go. Shooting puts everyone at risk, including bystanders.

We are all part of the failed system... see what you're saying, they are better ways to handle people that break traffic rules, firing at them is not one so dont encourage the mad policeman. Where in a saner country police carry AK47 up and down. Naija police are there to kill and destroy, neglecting their mandate of " protecting lives and properties" ... They could have taken his vehicle plate number, useless country no camera to monitor traffic offenders. Dis police wey fire dis gun so fit do smoke nonsense, and u no say Igbo na negative motivator. R.I.P to the young boy, Nigeria failed you for recruiting maniac as police officers.

There was no roadblock in this case .

Not only was he driving against traffic route but was doing so in high speed almost having a heading collision with the road safety officers vehicles and as if that was not enough,he ran into the police men , hit and cleared everything by the roadside even almost crashing the police van and yet that wasn't enough for somebody driving a tinted car ....what exactly was he running away from without regards to the lifes if the children he was carrying

Yet, all the above should not be accepted as excuse for police shooting at the man. Life is more precious than all of the above.

Before I watched the video, I looked it from a subjective approach but immediately I watched the video I perceived it objectively.

Apparently, an ordinary citizen would think that the driver (father of the demise son) was a kidnnaper, assailant or ritualist trying to evade arrest.

While he's manoeuvering and hiting vehicles, there's tendency that he'd have kill any er-by with the way he's driving.

Why didn't he stop when he's told to?

Someone said his son was late for WAEC Exam.

There's no bikeman on the street he can stop to take his son to his exam center ?

What if he'd kill someone in the process of evading arrest?

I think the man is stupid and probably he's serious anger issues. A little patience would've been a panecea to this quagmire.

To the police, I think they can do better. Shooting a live bullet in a populated scene isn't professional. This is just the reflection of how bad our system is.

The deed has been done. But we can learn from this awkward situation to avoid future occurrences.

The driver (The father of the son) should take the larger fault.

The police -They are always quick to fire weapon even when drivers refused to pay them #200. I think they can do better if they're given better orientation.

Men, pls work on your temperament.

It's so sad.
