The last time I checked, Felicity has different models of battery with different price. I suggest you get in touch directly to the company and ask them exactly what you want.

I'm personally having doubt about quality control of about 95% of foreign products floating Nigerian market. I noticed that when a new foreign company wants to penetrate Nigerian markets, it starts sending in quality products with enticing prices. When they gain ground, they change market strategies and start sending in substandard products.

I have already committed to the vendor and it is being delivered today for a Sat installation so late at this point. I can only rely on the 5 years warranty if anything goes wrong and I and the vendor have discussed this extensively.

Though I'm sending someone to his house today to check what actually happened but I tried asking him certain questions to know what actually happened. He told me there was nepa light (low current) but the house was running by the solar. The weather was normal and lightning/thunder at all.

The installation was perfectly done.

Components like MOSFETs and capacitors can go out with a bang.

Nothing to worry about, I've had a few experience of having it go POW! while actually checking some.

Pretty loud bang. Most times it could be a result of a lot of things ranging from voltage surges, cooling fan failure, too much dust on components leading to thermal runway etc.

Once that happens, inverter needs to visit the service centre. But to the uninitiated they may think it's a bomb

I am sure Felicity will be able to fix it.How long has the inverter been installed?What capacity of battery is it connected to?. Mine was caused by bad tubular battery.The batteries stopped receiving current while inverter kept working to push in current.Eventually replaced the battery with LFP after the inverter was fixed.Long period of low voltage also make inverter to overwork as they do not receive appropriate voltage to deliver the right charging current and the internal components become stressed.

I have gone round town checking prices for batteries and they are off the charts.

I am a very good with repairing electronics and electrical stuffs and I once used to be a solar and inverter installer about 4 year ago. I have also built other battery banks before.

What advice can I get from the house and any possible pointers that can help on this journey.

From the naration, most likely they were pulling more amps than the grid could readily give since the inverter would be on by.

if the prices you are seeing appear off the chart, and you're here seeking advice; possibly on where to get those within your budget, may I say you need be careful so you don't end up shooting yourself on the foot.

Lithium cells / battery ain't cheap. if they are, it's because corners were cut. if you can't afford the quality ones, you're better off not venturing there at all. We all mustn't use lithium batteries

People wey still dey use NEPA / PHCN dey try. Me don sack NEPA since the days of President Jonathan. As in I use my 3 legs jump into Solar at same time.
Also normally, One should have some sort of protection (stabilizer, Surge protector, etc) between power mains, and their expensive devices even when the power mains is clean and reliable, let alone when it ain't

Our grid too dey very low so the protector (abinna breaker) cuts off power before it gets in the Inverter if it goes below the threshold (170v by default).

But as per say we rarely do 170v (we mostly get 150-162v on the average), I set the threshold to 150v.

Now I'm thinking that's not a good idea. 🥹

Grid voltage fluctuate between 70v-150v in my area until i wrote an email to Ikeja Electric, though they did not me but there is significant improvement. The voltage is between 120v-210v now.

Invest in a good servo stabiliser. Those that trust NEPA with their equipment dey try. I don't trust 'em one bit.

Please who knows how to set bulk and float for kartel 60a charge controller.. I have checked online but that manual isn't straight forward. Can't find Any video on YouTube about the charge controller

I have only used Powmr.I have 3 which I have bought for over 5 years when it was still going for 38k on aliexpress.Two are connected while one is spare.They are very good. Only limitation is that they don't come above 60amps when I bought them.

Haven't tried any other and not sure I will because if I have any reason to change my present set ups , na to go the hybrid way.

If you're living in a rented apartment with a central earthing, disconnect it and install yours it will stop.

I had same experience and after I did that (t 2 4ft earth rods together and drove it to the ground and linked it to my connection) it stopped.

Jonescosmos advised me then to run an independent earthing for my setup and it's been working great since then.

I later found out that an electrician looped my neighbors neutral to the earth terminal in the DB.

I'm taking your advice chief, I just bought a 4ft earth rod and charcoal with salt to earth my system.

I wanna do it myself cos I feel it's a simple something that doesn't need an electrician.

Should I link it directly to the earthing of the inverter? Cos the inverter has an earthing port.
