But our politicians are very heartless. I cant be a house of rep member or governor in this state and not personally come out and demand for justice over this matter. I will personally carry the case upon my head until all actors who caused the demise of that boy pay the ultimate price. You mean to tell me none them politicians in oyo is watching or reading about this incident on social media? And they are all quiet. They are monsters.

Don't accept the narration of the police PRO. Yes, Mr. Odulare might have broken traffic rule, does it warrant an officer to shoot at him?
it is the law that determines if a police man can shoot at and offender who is running to avoid arrest,I'm not a lawyer

Don't be like this. It doesn't make sense at all.
What's the reason for shooting in a situation like this? At WORSE, the police should have shot at the vehicles tires. This is even unnecessary. What's the reason what vehicles have number plate and registration? That should have just been taken down and used to trace the car.

No really a good one from the dad. Even without shooting he put the lives of the children to huge danger with those reckless driving.

So unfortunate.

That man is very stupid. Now that he's lost his son I hope he's very happy with himself.

Why not stop when they ask you to stop. Even if your papers are not complete highest they'll do is to collect money from you.

Now his stubbornness has cost the life of his son.

And to the police officer that discharged his firearm. He should be arrested and jailed.

you see the way the policemen and the traffic officers are now calm but like you said the man was reckless

why is he running if he had killed your brother while on the run ,I'm sure your u will be singing a different song ,traffic violators are murders especially those on the run

Around 2022, I almost got killed by one way traffic violator, I was watching the only side vehicle are coming, not knowing he was coming from a wrong side. I don't even know how I escape it, all I know is that, I found myself landed heavily on the road side and sustained injury in both legs and hands.

Traffic violators are potential killers, it is an offence that should attract serious jail term. This particular person violated the rule, and at the same time running like a thief. Go and watch the video and see yourself.

Let them just sell this country, I can't continue sharing this space with APC and PDP idiots and empty skulls. When I see how other countries are developing and what their people are demanding and holding their leaders able for I just weep for this useless country.

How can men&women of over 30, 40, 50, 60yrs be so daft and stupid, putting tribe over their suffering and pain is yet to be studied. Nigerians are one of the most foolish people in the world and I am ashamed to be one.

With this nonsense and ineffective leadership I won't be shocked to see people screaming APC for 2027. Just wait and see.

Young man, Nigeria has failed you. Rest in peace

NB: Just reading the comments, shows the average intelligence of Nigerians, very poor.
so it is angels that are in labour party?

I saw what u did there, nobody is putting tribe over everything but we are putting competence above everything.

Obi failed woefully as a governor which all his people attested to but today they all want us to see him as d Emergency Messiah over tinubu with a well verified track record.

It's not possible, it is only in Nigeria that a failure as governor will want to contest as president n when asked of his track record he will say go n

We are good people...not psychos like the whites.....
We are law abiding.....
This rubbish picked up with the incessant and rude awakening especially those in Major cities down South ie, West and East where policemen employ thuggery antics in dealing with the people.
You'll see cops working daylight with Agberos to.extort and punish simple traffic abuses and so on.
If Lagos was what we claimed.....Traffic cops ought to be the highest earners due to the complications on our roads.
Instead, they wield guns and stylishly rob and you have people saying Eko oni baje.
Who doesn't a sane society

The driver would have stopped at worst he would be fined.

Now he lost his son.

And for the undisciplined police officer, haba! Opening fire in a public space. He should be jailed.

This is not the time to apportion blames, but a time for Deep reflections.. the dad,you erred gravely, you could have stopped and engaged the officers maturely,I believe seeing your kid(s) would have at least soften whatever infractions you might have done. Take heart,I know what it it's not easy to lose a child.
To our Country's Finest, I thought the Rules of engagement says "you fire only when fired upon" and when you have eyes on a firearm and believe in probable cause of discharge.. why then discharging live ammunition just to demobilize a vehicle without any sign of fireman or explosives detected. Please let us just be careful, life is just once.

Rebuker:
A newly surfaced video has shed light on the tragic incident in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot by police officers during an operation that was initially intended to apprehend his father for a traffic offense.

Earlier reports had suggested that the officers were chasing an alleged internet fraudster when a stray bullet struck the young student. However, the newly released footage contradicts this, showing that the incident actually involved a t task force consisting of personnel from the Oyo State Police Command and the Oyo State Traffic Management Authority (OYTMA).

In the video, the officers are seen attempting to intercept a Black Honda Accord driven by Odunayo Alade, the boy’s father, who had reportedly flouted traffic regulations. As the car sped off in defiance of the officers' orders, a gunshot rings out. Voices speaking in Yoruba can be heard saying: “They should pursue him”, “let’s go”, “he can’t escape”, “he shouldn’t have gone.”

Shortly afterward, the vehicle halts and bystanders gather at the scene. The boy is spotted lying motionless on the ground, with police officers surrounding him. Two men lift the boy, seemingly trying to place him back into the vehicle. Blood is visibly staining the pavement nearby.

Amid the commotion, a voice from the crowd is heard asking: “Who fired the gun?” Meanwhile, a distressed man — believed to be the father — is seen gripping a police officer, apparently the one who fired the shot. He cries out in anguish: “Shoot me; you have to shoot me too.”

Later that day, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, issued a statement providing further details about the incident. According to him, the vehicle driven by Alade had violated traffic laws around 7:45 am near the Airport Roundabout in the Alakia axis of Ibadan. When officials attempted to stop him, he allegedly accelerated in defiance, colliding with two OYTMA vehicles and a Police Buffalo Patrol truck.

The statement continues: “Rather than complying with lawful directives, the driver allegedly accelerated towards the enforcement team in an attempt to evade arrest, ramming into two OYTMA vehicles and a Police Buffalo Patrol truck.”

To prevent additional danger to officers and other road s, barricades were set up to stop the fleeing vehicle. However, Alade reportedly broke through these barriers and continued driving in a reckless manner, posing risks to those around.

During this pursuit, a police corporal discharged his weapon. The bullet pierced the rear of the vehicle and struck the boy, who was seated behind the driver. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

The officer responsible for firing the shot has since been detained, and the authorities have launched an ongoing investigation into the matter.

I just watched the video if it was the driver that was killed in the event, the police is most like going to walk free ,because from the way that driver is behaving you can say he is smuggling arms or is a kidnapper ,I have never seen something worst than what the guy did

If a man can't control his anger this is what will happen. The fuulish police release the shot cos the man frustrated him and the father of the boy also put the life of his sons in danger by doing Tokyo drift with insane Nigeria Police force. Both of them deserve to be jailed, they just wasted that innocent boy for nothing.

It’s quite unfortunate that the police shot the boy. If the driver of the vehicle had obeyed the traffic rule, this unfortunate incident would have been avoided.
Oga most of us are law abiding, me especially, by 1am I still wait for traffic lights. This does not mean like many others I have not taken a short cut over the years wrong as it may be. I don't do it but I wount say I have not once done it. The unfortunate thing is that in this case it lead to an escalation. As in the father did it when a whole team of oyo lastma were driving by, he thought he could quickly escape but no way.
Look at the video closely, the man likely came out of a street and instead of going the long way to make a turn, decided take a quick dash to the crossing. Which driver in lagos has not done it before? Who will cast the first stone?

The problem is that of a standard operating procedure of the police. What exactly are the conditions to which an officer of the police discharged his weapon? I was at a eatery some time ago and there was a check point close by, and an officer discharged his weapon on a vehicle that refused to stop, my children were seated in my car. We confronted the officer on why he had to discharge his weapon and they ganged up on us on why we had to complain, one of the officers even said are we saying his oga cannot handle a weapon effectively. Unfortunately, there are no consequences to these actions I can bet that the officer that killed that child will be let off the hook once the dust settles. The police as an institution is weak.

The day I went to report an offence committed by one of my clients to a Police station was once the day I reaffirmed my trust never to have a close link with police....

Imagine one of the Police men telling the P.R.O who would handle my case , that he has been here, why she takes customers, than am now the third person.....

Even the sentence or whatever they said I should write comes with #5k non refundable bill , then I need to fuel their car and possibly pay for handcuffs before we can move...

I just got tired instantly, told them an not interested in the case again, and went home , cooled off and moved on ....

If Nigerian Police stops you on the road, please stop, play along with them, don't assume they can't do what you feel security personnel can't do ......

At a time, let’s all try to be human.

The Nigerian police is bad but that does not give anyone to right to accuse them of everything.

A armed criminal, cultist, kidnapper or drug peddler could have been in that car. The police officer knew something was up the moment the man refused to stop and he had to left off shots. He probably might not have the intention to get someone killed but did in the process.

We all have access to the knees and seen worst cases happen in even far advanced countries. Tye moment you resisting arrest in a violent and erratic way, the police had limited options in that space of time to make best decision.

The father could have just stopped and avoided the menace.

Na wa o! Why are people talking like this, the man caused this, the man caused that? Assume the driver did not even wait after being flagged. Is that enough justification for a police officer to just shoot indiscriminately? We talk as if, we don't know NPF? I'm sure the narrative has been changed.

Seriously, I'm fvcking done with this country.

Trigger happy policemen are a real serious problem... that's why officers should be subjected to psychological tests before armed.

Anytime I have my family in my car, I don't accelerate beyond 100kmH let alone going against traffic rules.

The man, knowing fully well that he has his kid in the car, and still going against traffic rules to the extent of running from Police. That man killed his son on behalf of a stupid police officer

RIP Innocent son

This is totally avoidable. Big blames on both the driver and unprofessional officer that shot the poor innocent boy.

The father is directly responsible for this ! His actions directly led to the death of his son
Originalsly: 9:12am On May 22
The video is more than enough evidence to show the man was responsible for his son's death. When cornered and deciding to break out...did he look like he cared who he hit in his bid to get away? In my neck of the woods in such a situation they would've lit him up...and if alive ...be facing a string of charges including attempted vehicular homicide. Why didn't he stop is the question many are ignoring.
