Kano, Nigeria – The Federal Government has allocated over ₦80 billion for the comprehensive renovation of more than 100 Unity Schools across Nigeria, according to the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad.

Prof. Ahmad disclosed this during her inspection visit to Federal Government College, Kano, where she emphasized the government’s renewed commitment to improving infrastructure and creating a more conducive learning environment in federal unity schools.

The Minister stated that the renovation aligns with the founding vision of Unity Schools — to foster national integration, academic excellence, and equal opportunity for Nigerian students regardless of background.

As part of her tour, Prof. Ahmad interacted with students and teachers to assess the quality of instruction and service delivery. She highlighted the value of regular dialogue between policymakers and school communities in identifying challenges and determining resource priorities.

“We are committed to restoring the dignity and standard of Unity Schools through massive infrastructural upgrades and improved teaching quality,” she said.

Prof. Ahmad also revealed that the Federal Ministry of Education is developing a nationwide digital platform that will offer continuous professional training for teachers.

“This initiative will empower teachers with 24/7 access to modern teaching resources and capacity-building tools, regardless of their location,” she added.

The Minister further visited Federal Government Girls College, Kazaure, where she reaffirmed the government’s intention to ensure that all Unity Schools benefit from consistent and equitable upgrades as part of broader reforms in the education sector.

Fantastic news.

Nigeria is moving.

Every day new upgrades, projects, and investments by the FG and state govts.

When you people ask ''Where is the money gained from subsidy removal?''

This is where it's going - to develop and improve Nigeria.

This is good. Unity Schools have been long neglected. The conditions and standards need upgrade. Including the feeding. They should be competing between themselves annually by ranking and with private schools fiercely. Most intelligent students should also be given scholarship opportunity to attend the best ones and the best of the best to the University. The gifted school has always been hijacked by politicians, so I hope the education minister pays attention and rewards exceptional students from poor backgrounds especially.

Renovation, after renovation, same way they have been renovating tertiary institution without facilities for research and power, to the extent that no university in Nigeria has a complete standard facility for research, making people go to private labs and outside the country to carry out their research.

Look well, from this contract, some govt officials' shares are likely to reach 50 billion.
Inflated contracts, an avenue to steal government money with a clean sheet.

This is Nigeria for you.

There's no way the money can be monitored!

Padded Contracts will be awarded and the extras will be forwarded to a crony's to be gradually disbursed.

The civil servants and the average masses too corrupt!

I just wished and prayed the money is judiciously spent on what it’s meant for, because some people are frustrating the efforts of the istration by embezzling funds meant for projects like this

80billion for all the unity schools in the 36 states in Nigeria?
Apart from the fact that it's audio money, it's too small!

What's even wrong with this president?

Elfufai is weeeeeping!!!

Real leadership prioritises education. Northern elites have weaponised poverty and ignorance through the almajiri system, while Boko Haram destroyed futures. It’s time to break the cycle. Every Nigerian child deserves knowledge, not manipulation. Education is the true jihad

If truly this 80 billion will be spent on renovating these prestigious institutions, they will regain their glory but we know how it goes in Nigeria. Less than 5 billion will go into this proposed goal sadly
