Why did JAMB keep quiet and release the results, knowing fully well that more than 300,000 were affected?

You and BlueRay vowed that nothing will happen irrespective of the pressure on jamb....

Ibime has never hidden his love for Tinubu. He s Tinubu but he can't it it with his full chest, but he drops random hints here and there. Surprised you didn't figure it out all this while.

Many love Tinubu even the British High commisioner

ABUJA — The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as “big and bold” initiatives that have transformed Nigeria into a more attractive destination for investors.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Montgomery acknowledged that the UK’s interest in Nigeria is growing, citing the positive impact of recent economic policies.

“I’ve been very public previously about commending the big and bold economic reforms being taken by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Montgomery stated.

Highlighting key policy changes, he pointed to the abolition of fuel subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate system as crucial steps toward economic stability.

According to him, these measures are already yielding results, positioning Nigeria as a more “investible” nation.

Vowed is a strong word.

I said the lawyer who request for scripts of the students under FOI will not get it. That JAMB would rather go to court which they may most likely win if the lawyer decides to pursue the case under the FOI act.

The 6 SE states and Lagos disproportionately affected.

LOL.

This is very shameful.

If they had released 1.6 million results and itted that 300k plus would rewrite, that's better.

I'm trying very hard to not point fingers at bigotry, but the fact that the 5 SE states and Lagos (which has a very large number of Igbos) for over 300k of 387k ordered rewrites is very very fishy

387,000 persons to resit the JAMB exams in 5 South East states and Lagos.

So how will JAMB identify those affected and those not affected?

I hope we won't have a case of some candidates later coming out to claim they were affected but JAMB didn't schedule the for resit?

I mean what about people in states like Ogun, Oyo, etc who failed and may want to claim they failed because of the same glitch for which the Lagos and the southeast states candidates were allowed to resit?

BREAKING: JAMB reschedules UTME for affected 379,997 S’East, Lagos candidates

The 379,997 candidates in the five states of the South East and Lagos will be rescheduled for another Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made this known in a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

“206,610 in 65 centres were affected in Lagos and 92 centres in Owerri zone comprising of 173,387 candidates in the five states of the South East were affected,” he said.

Oloyede, who took responsibility for what he described as a “sabotage” of the 2025 UTME, said the affected candidates will start getting text messages from the Board starting Thursday.

“The affected candidates will start getting text messages for reschedule starting from tomorrow.

“I apologise, I take full responsibility

Of the 1.9 million candidates who sat the UTME, over 1.5 million reportedly scored below 200 out of the maximum 400 marks, raising concerns across the education sector.

According to the examination agency, a total of 1,955,069 results were processed, out of which only 4,756 candidates (0.24 per cent) scored 320 and above, considered top-tier performance, while 7,658 candidates (0.39 per cent) scored between 300 and 319, bringing the total for those who scored 300 and above to 12,414 candidates (0.63 per cent).

Also, 73,441 candidates (3.76 per cent) scored between 250 and 299 while 334,560 candidates (17.11 per cent) scored between 200 and 249.

A total of 983,187 candidates (50.29 per cent) scored between 160 and 199, which is widely regarded as the minimum threshold for issions in many institutions.

In the same vein, 488,197 candidates (24.97 per cent) scored between 140 and 159, 57,419 candidates (2.94 per cent) scored between 120 and 139, 3,820 candidates (0.20 per cent) scored between 100 and 119, and 2,031 candidates (0.10 per cent) scored below 100.

Over 75 per cent of all candidates (1.5 million) scored below 200, average score seeing as the examination is graded over 400.

Those who said there was a glitch and doubted the validity of the results were right after all.

The entire thing is a big dent on the reputation of the exam, they've been having these issues, just wasn't at this scale.

The proper thing is an investigation gets done, and the report of the investigation made public, anything short of that would be a shame.

I don't want to add any ethnic suspicion, but how did it get to the point that they had to cover it?

So how are we sure that hundreds of thousands have not been sidelined in the past?

Ọmọ!

The word "glitch" is too generic ; they actually owe the public an explanation as to what kind of glitch it was and how are they going to ensure it doesn't happen in the future. Also, why does the glitch only affect a cross section of state and not others? Is the glitch from their servers?

Like they need to do a thorough review and make the report of the review public. Like I had so much trust in this present JAMB leadership headed by Prof Oloyede but now dem Don pour spit for my face. 🤦‍♂️

It's a big dent on the integrity of the exam body going forward

Na real falling hand be this thing wey just happen.

It only means a lot of students may have been affected in the past and they didn't get reprieve because their voice was not heard.

I read one man's post earlier this evening about his JAMB in 2001. He said when they sent someone to check his JAMB resukg back then it was recorded he scored 94! He didn't believe it was his result and neither did his father. His father wrote an appeal letter to JAMB for his result to be reviewed and didn't get a response.

He said he was already preparing for his second JAMB when JAMB posted his original JAMB result and he saw his mark had been upgraded to 229. The 64 he scored in English language remained but the other subjects he scored 13 and other low marks were reviewed upwards. He said he sensed someone in JAMB quickly noted their error filling his father's letter and quietly corrected the error without louding. He eventually gained ission with that result.

The guy pointed out that probably a whole lot of students may have been victims of such errors but nobody to speak for them.

As swiz123 said, it didn't make any sense for someone to score above or close to 300 and score 150 the very next year.

If You say Sabo u say teur. You don't know to which extent people will go to see that status quo should be maintained for them to keep chopping. Those who are beneficiary of exam malpractices that this new system have left with nothing have probably helped sabotaged Prof's effort to sanitize the system. Prof should go after those behind this so called glitch and punish them severely then put measures in place to prevent future occurrence.
